thanks for the reply... actually it is usually the opposite, pull up to stop and
revs up to 4K, and stays until I slip clutch or leave intersection...

If you pull up to a stop, is the idle high & eventually it drops? If so, you
could possibly need a vavle adjustment (tigh intake valves).
