the bucket leaving the motor upside down for an hour or so. Turn it upright and
move the rods up & down.They should be smooth and all fully lubricated. Now you
can put it back together providing the rods moved up & down smoothly of course.
I've done this many times,I usually do it when I do a top end just to be sure

a corner attachment does a decent job. Once you can get in there, put a rag in
the hole. I think the use of penetrating oil will help the crumbs stick rather
than drop into the case. Then it's a matter of wiping as much as you can off
the crank and case.
