I've just posted pics of the riders as they passed Danville on Corridor

album.

Greetings folks.
I hope the heat isn't keeping you from riding.
This coming weekend marks the 3rd Annual Paul Ritchie Ride.
Here's the flyer, download/print at your leisure:
http://www.firemarshal.wv.gov/Documents/PCR%20flyer%20notice%202008.pdf
The ride begins at 11am with registration beginning at 9am.
We'll leave the Danville Fire Station at 8:30am, which should give us
plenty of time to head to Charleston, grab something to eat then make
it to registration.
/Phathead
Thanks to those that came out and helped me with the bike show. Even
though we didn't have but about half the amount of traffic I expected,
we did ok. We stayed out of the red and made a little profit.
Those of you that have pics from the bike show... please get me a
copy. i need them for the website(s).
Sorry about the meeting we were suppose to have tonight. We'll get
back into the swing of things next month.
Also, June 14th is the Paul Ritchie Ride. We'll meet up and ride over
togther.
/Phathead
I will be at Station 100 tomorrow night (Wednesday) around 7pm or so,
working on the signs for the bike show. If anyone likes to paint or
has a little artistic talent, stop by and give me a hand.

7pm, I think once someone made the mistake (I dunno who would do such
a thing) of making the meeting at 6pm, we said 7pm from now on.

Well, we're all home safe and sound. Another good trip to D.C. for
Memorial Day is in the books. We put more than 1000 miles on the bikes
since Thursday. Considering we didn't ride much more than a 100 or so
miles around D.C. on Sat/Sun, that's not too shabby.
I've uploaded new images to the website (www.wvrk3.org) and my myspace
page. I'll add them to the Yahoo group before I go to bed.
Time to catch some much needed zzzzZ's.

Recently, my fire department responded to a motorcycle accident. Not
getting into details, but I was onscene and found a patch-holder from
another club and his wife, involved in the accident and needing to be
transported to the hospital. Because I am a patch-holder, I knew that
fire/ems folks may not know about "patches" and how to take care of
them. I was able to speak to the patch-holder and told him that I need
to take his colors off to examine his rib injuries. I told him that I
was a patch holder, what club, etc. and that I would personally take
care of his patches for him, taking them directly to a representative
of his choosing or an officer in the local chapter.
He was of course very worried about his colors. His bike didn't much
matter to him, but the colors did. He was reluctant to say the least,
but he weighed his options and figured that it would be best for me
and now Wormy is onscene, to take care of his cut.
Wormy and I put the colors in my truck and I rode the bike, wrecked
but in very good shape, back to our fire house and put it in one of
our garages, called some of his brothers and took care of business.
His brothers were very appreciative of the honor and respect we had
for another club's colors and thanked us accordingly.
Our chapter is a neutral chapter and needless to say, we will and
would have shown this respect for any club's colors.
MC Protocol Basics. That's what it's all about in order to maintain
peace in the biker community.
It has nothing to do with who someone is, it has to do with respect
for the patches.
Remember this and when you get a chance, read this website:

We've been invited to the Alliance Clubhouse for a Chicken Bar-B-Que on Saturday night.
Remember, the Mountain Men Bike Show is at Water Ways on Saturday also. Perhaps we can get together, go to the Bike Show, then to the Alliance Bar-B-Que thereafter.

Departing Danville, May 22 2008.
FYI:
* You MUST have your motorcycle endorsement to sign-up for the ride.
This means, you may have your learners, as long as you're not
violating any of the stipulations for the learners. If you're planning
to go with me on the MAIN BODY of the RIDE and you do not have your
endorsement, GO GET IT THIS WEEK!!!!!!
* You MUST make the MANDATORY MEETING each morning of the ride. You
cannot jump-in midway through a particular leg of the ride. So, if
you're thinking of jumping into the ride midway at Charleston, don't.
They won't let you.
* You must also have a valid insurance certificate and registration
card in order to sign-up for the ride.
* We're leaving out no later than 6:00am Thursday morning, May 22 2008
from the Danville Fire House. We'll be en route to Hurricane for the
MANDATORY MEETING and Sign-up.
* Thursday's Itinerary: 7:30am Riders Meeting and Signup in Hurricane,
Ride to Charleston (arrive 9am), visit War Memorial on our Capitol's
grounds, leave 10:30 am. Ride 64 to Lewisburg. Although, we will
probably get off at Sandstone exit to go to camp.
* Friday's Itinerary: 7:45am Riders Meeting in Lewisburg. We will be
leaving no later than 6:00am from Camp. Departure is 8:30am from
Lewisburg. Arrive in D.C. @ 4pm or so. We will probably go "all the
way" to make sure we meet up with the southern route and get some
pictures. Then it's off to our hotel.
* Make sure you pack the following items:
Your hotel reservation information. I have mine, Jimmy's, Matt's and
Chris' and will bring that with me. If anyone else goes, make sure you
call ahead and make reservations at our hotel. Call me for the hotel info.
Pack light but pack right. You will need, at a minimum, three changes
of clothes.
You'll need sunscreen, a water bottle, at least one pair of
comfortable walking shoes (this is a MUST!).
If you take medications, make sure at least one of us knows what meds
you take, just in case something happens.
Don't forget your allergies. If you suffer from allergies, chances
are, they'll show themselves on this trip. If you're allergic to bees,
get an eppie pen and take it with you. Dana and I are use to this, if
you have questions, call us.
Sun glasses, a rain-suit or poncho....
Wear your leathers!!!!
Use a DOT helmet. You don't want this ride to go down-hill with a
ticket for a non-DOT helmet or they confiscate your bike. I will NOT
be coming home because YOU get your bike confiscated. I am wearing DOT
and my bike and myself are 100% legal (except for the really loud
noise out the back :-)
I am sure I am forgetting something. I will try to send another update
before we leave.
