Half Fast S.C, in association with Twist and Play
S.C., Global Village
Idiots S.C. (Scapoose) and The
Gresham Goblins S.C., welcome one and all to
FANTASY
ISLAND... (well maybe not, but will Orcas do?)

Howdy
all, I hope that everyone has recovered from Spring
Scoot, and is ready
to plan the rest of their
scootering holiday season. As you might be
aware, there
is a weekender planned for the 8,9,10th of June,
location: Orcas
Island, San Juan Islands, Washington.
This has the potential to be a
very special event,
and we need your presence and help to make it so. It
has
been planned to be very affordable, and the location
is relatively easy to
get to from Seattle,
Bellingham, Vancouver and Victoria. Ferries serving
the
islands leave Anacortes WA. and Sidney B.C.. Schedules
can be found
at
www.wsdot.wa.gov.ferries/index.cfm

The facility booked for the
event is the ELC
Centre in Camp Moran
State Park on Orcas. There are
144 beds available, and a few seperate
cabins
available for families and or kids etc. There are BBQ pits,
kitchens,
showers, sports fields, a private beach on the lake with
swimming dock
etc. The camp is also at the foot of Mt.
Constitution, the highest point
in the islands (a 4 mile
2,500 ft. ride of serious switchbacks and
amazing
views.)

We have planned the weekend to be affordable,
with $25 US covering
two nights at the camp with
BBQ. The ferries are cheap, and prices are
posted
on the above website. (Last year, it was $17 for
Joanna and I +
Vespa and
dog.)

I have
intentionally left the itinerary flexible, so as to
let
people customise their holiday. Some might wish to ride
all the islands,
whilst
others might prefer a
little fishin' at the lake etc. All the islands
are
very scenic, and a couple (Lopez and Shaw,) have very
little road
traffic, making for delicious scootering.
Support vehichles will be
arranged. I
would like to
suggest that those who can, meet the Canadians off the
ferry at
Friday Harbour, cruise San Juan Island,
then our way back to Orcas. Sat.
night BBQ is to be
Island in theme, so break out your Puka shells
and
Jimmy Buffet tapes. Sunday is the soccer match between
the Canadians and the
Yanks, in memory of the
almost fiasco known as The "PIG WAR" (read
your
history). I have arranged with the government of the State
of
Washington, that if by some freak of nature, that the
Canadians should win said
match, possesion of the
Islands will be forfeited to our northern
neighbors.

I realize that some of us that have to travel up
to Anacortes in
order to make the ferry, might
have trouble getting up there in time to
enjoy
Friday, but I recommend that you try and make an early
Friday sailing, so as to
fully enjoy the weekend. I
was only able to get the space for Fri and
Sat
nights. I encourage all Clubs and individuals to take
advantage of this
opportunity, if you don't know your
neighbors in the northwestern
scootering
community,
now is your chance. Advanced bookings are requested,
and I need to see some numbers (we
have made
sizable deposit, and need 70 souls to make this fly.) I
also need
to know how many need asistance in
getting their bikes to Anacortes, and
how many
marshmallows to buy. I will happily supply anyone interested
with
flyers and more info if requested.

Thank You,
and we look foward to seeing you at the
Northwest
Puddlejumpers First (and most likely last)
Annual San Juan
