Re: New Westfield XI owner

I have had both new and old XIs here, and the differences are not enough to make
a difference when it comes to interior and tonneau.

The interior kit should fit fine. Tonneau cover should also fit, as the snaps
would be installed to fit the cover. There is no difference in the body opening
between the old and new versions, and the carpet kit is the same as well. The
tonneau for Eric's car would have to be for a RHD car.

Any good top or trim shop should be able to make a tonneau and the carpet panels
and tunnel as well, though I suspect that the carpet kit and tonneau may be less
expensive from Westfield.

Knock offs are either in coarse (common), and fine (not as common) treads. If
you check the British Wire Wheel catalog, you can find wheels in 14 and 15, and
the thread count per inch for the Knock Offs, as the exact number escapes me at
the moment. In any case, coarse or fine threads don't make a difference in wheel
fit.

The problem with the 14" wheels is that there is little selection of good tires.
Same goes for the 13s. In 15", the choices are ONLY race tires in the 5.00X15
and 4.50X15 sizes. 500 for the rear, and 4.5 for the front. ONLY. Vintage race
tires from Dunlop are the best here. Since the sizes are common among 50s sports
racers, availability is excellent, but they are pricey. The XI is light, and the
tires will last. I am pretty sure that the sidewalls will crack before the tread
wears out.

Handling with the 15s is excellent, with a wonderfully controllable drift and
solid predictability.

need to be some 'fettling' of both to make them fit perfectly. It may very well
be easier(?) to have a local trim shop work both items up for you.
