I hope everyone is just about ready for the Rubicon Scramble VI. I
just
finished my major work on my scrambler, new CV driveline and 35"
tires and
just have some tinkering to do. This year should be a nice turnout
of about
18 scramblers plus an additional 10+ of their trail buddies.
The Rubicon will be crowded once again with the Auburn Jeep Club and
the
Dirty Dozen also on the trail that weekend. But since both of these
groups
don't come in until Saturday, we should have a very nice time at
Spider on
Friday night and Mike Brink has worked out with some friends who are
going
up mid week to ensure that our spot at Rubicon Springs is reserved.
Remember we are meeting at the Dam at 7am on Friday, July 11 and
heading out
at 8am. If you come late just give us a call on the CB Channel 8.
The gate
keeper is especially tough this year, I have been told by several
folks.
Mike also said that their is some new challenges due to a fallen rock
on
Walker Hill.
Several people are staying at Loon Lake on Thursday night and a few in
Placerville. Just keep your eyes open for your fellow taildragger. I
believe we only have one newbie this year, so most of us are familiar
with
the trail and can help him out.
If anyone is taking digital pictures this year, please email them to
me to
post on my website. There is nothing better than seeing a scrambler
scrambling up and over some big rocks.
Hope to see you there,
Jerry
