just curious what you guys might think the problem is. I have a 98
jetta glx with 130k miles. Taking her on a cross country (us) road
trip. The trunk has quite a bit of weight in it (actually moving a lot
of my stuff)I hit a good bump and ever since, the rear passenger side
makes a creaking noise as the car moves up and down. Happens when the
car is moving and also when parked - ie I can walk over to the rear,
push down on the car and as it bounces up and down, it makes a creaking
noise. My guess is with the weight and bump, I must have damaged the
shock. Do you guys think that is the case or does it sound like
something different to you? Before I call the dealer and get a quote,
should I be looking at replacing all shocks and struts or just the
damaged one? (they have never been replaced). Also, if it is just a
shock/strut issue, do you have any idea as to what kind of ballpark
cost would I be looking at?
thanks.
