Hi all! I added a bunch of links to our listserv site. There are
fellow moto-clubs, other listserv's, and links to Beth's web site and
pictures of DV2006.

PS -- I put our logo on the web site and our listserv too!

Cheers,

Brendan

Add www.dreamqueen.com  to the links section too!

Here’s the link to the 2006 ride.  I have photos from ’99 too – I can make up a quick slideshow and send you the link.  I haven’t forgotten about the patch design.

Todd, send me your e-mail address so I can send you the poster to print out.

If you can, print them out only on a photo quality paper and settings – we want them to look nice.

Thanks

Brendan was just saying today that the XL125 would be a great bike for that
ride. We're probably going to go too. Last time Brendan took the CT200 and had
tons of fun. Now we just need to get Jason to revive the AT-1. Jason? Garrett
would have a blast up there playing with Sophie and her battery powered quad...

Hi all,

We are now the masters of our own domain -- vjla.org. Check out our

This site is a quickee, temporary one until I have time to make
something more fitting for our club. It still has our current schedule
of events, mailing address, and all that though.

I am open to all suggestions for additional content. Got any stories
to tell? Any old pictures to post?

San Fernando Valley Illegal Soapbox Federation Race

Sun, May 13; 7am
Twisted Oak course: Take Victory west past Valley Circle, R on Gilmore, L on Twisted Oak. Spectators park in the park at the top of Victory.

The problem with watching professional sports is there's usually an overabundance of competence, making thrilling, cataclysmic accidents all-too-rare. For something more amateur and unpredictably dangerous check out the San Fernando Valley Illegal Soapbox Federation Race, this Sunday.

Once a month, March through December, the Fed's cadre of anarchic jackasses come together to ride their fleetest cardboard-and-tin creations to rickety glory. While they have a couple of tried-and-true courses, this week's race is on uncharted asphalt; according to organizer Paul de Valera, these are the 3 hairiest sections to watch:

1. The first curve: Where most accidents happen, as it's frequently the first point where racers use their steering/brakes/helmets.

2. The big curve: Because of the high g-forces, heavier racers suddenly find themselves forced to slow down or skid out -- yet another situation where God has turned his back on Louie Anderson.

3. Victory Blvd: This final steep stretch will see the race's highest speeds. The cars' durability will be put to the ultimate test as racers rub wheels, bolts wiggle loose, tires burst, and Captain Caveman savagely beats Huckleberry Hound with a rock.

The first race of the day (7am) is for honor and title, with subsequent races and time trials lasting until the police arrive to round everybody up, and the truly dangerous amateurism begins.

Check out the video and more details

First, Thanks to Brendan for starting this group and inviting us!

Also THANK YOU to everyone who helped and participated in the 10th annual 2007
Death
Valley run.

Of course Brendan and his wonderful wife were the perfect ride host's and made
for a very
enjoyable ride...

I am in the process of writing up a little story for the next issue of the CJMC
newsletter.
The current issue shows a photo of the two Honda CL200s under the "200 below sea
level"
sign on the way to Furnace Creek.

Thanks again to all who contributed to the ride and made it so much fun. Me and
Bob
Brown from Ridgecrest enjoyed the trip through our big backyard, something that
is best
when riding with a bunch of classic and vintage motorcycles, and classy folks!

Todd Evans

P.S. Nate: I have a photo or two of the "Benz" to get to you...let me know how
you want me
to get that to you...

Speaking of trailer queens, my neighbor, Chris Matty, won "best
british moto" at the corsa this year (1965? BSA). The bike has beenn
inn his family for at least 4 years and he has no idea if it will
run!!!! Sad, really...

Hopefully, word of the .5 breakyfast might instill some motivation to
get it to run the whole 3ish miles to the airport... One can only
hope.

Not to mention getting all my Cretin bretherin from bursting their LA
bubble and waking up before noon on their day off!!!

I'm still pro ridin my bicycle down there, too! It looks vintage, at
least...

Hey Nate! I saw you and your son at the bank the other day. I was
in a rush, or would have said "hello"!

I was late to the last airport breakfast, but I am looking forward
to the next gathering! Suzy and I have even gone back just because
our dog is allowed in the outside dining area.

Hello all you old geezers! I'll be joining you when I'm in the LA
area - next time; this October for the Frazier Park rally. Brendan
contacted me about the club patch file; I'm still looking for a way
to read it (the pcx format is 8 years old) but I also have some extra
patches. We'll do it one way or another.
