Any harware store wuill have a metal 6" measuring tool/ruler with a
moveable "stop"
to indicate a certain meaurement.
Cheap $10 vernier caliper could be used.
Any large tin can lid or a piece of gutter flashing could be cut as a
square-horseshoe
measuring tool. Bit of a pain. Not too hard tho. Cut deeper than u
want, leaving the
legs too long by 1/4" or so. It's easier to trim them bak, than to
deepen the float cutout.
