Re: [vespa-sports] Re: unbelivable

its not a personal attack , its just how i see it, ive made huge mistakes, on scoots and cars, but now know r.t .f.m. read the fekin manual, 20 min read, cup of tea , read again, and crack on, we all can do amazing things , my point was, think ahead, plan ahead, be prepared, ask before, reserch, do it and enjoy the fruits of your labour, 30 years at mercedes benz can jade your opinions, but i love a home resto, and if you read what i said, its not an attack, just be ready when you strip down for all the problems the 10 inch wheel icon will throw at you and dont need to ask[ how do i turn off the bold print ...shit]when you get to an awkard stage, nothing worse than distroying a part on removal only to find out its no longer avalable anywhere , hope you see my point, i did it with 160 output shaft bearing and boy, did i pay for that mistake.sorry if you got offended,

Well.....I know it wasn't a personal attack....but the dude with the fork bearing issue is an experienced builder who has built some amazing award winning scoots. I think he just popped his question on here to get a quick answer.....

Some of us can't phathom the thought of farming our bikes out to have em worked on...If I can't do it myself.....then I am going to figure out how. This has been a costly education... mistakes have been made...but in the 20 years I've been doing this...I've learned how to do engine rebuilds.... .paint & body.....electrical & full blown restorations. Are they the best? Probably not...but there is an incredible satisfaction wrenching on my own bike.  And I only am able to do this.....because I started wrenchin & making mistakes early on. As much as I admire professional mechanincs.. ...the DYI spirit  within scootering should be encouraged.

im constantly amazed at how people do jobs and are not sure how its done or what parts will be required to finish the task, if your not sure then take it to your local shop or fixit guy who knows how, scooters are not toys and if not fixed properly can be a danger to us and others, not having a go at  anyone here but theres so many basic repair asks on here it sometimes makes me think, ask before and get well prepared, think in advance what could go wrong and poss will go wrong and prepare for it, if i was removing a set of forks i would automaticly replace the bearings and races when apart just cos its a pain to have to do it again at a later time , it just pays some times to do it all first time, like i said not an attack on anyone but as a profesional mechanic i see this all the time, do the reserch, but do it before hand and be prepared, its fun to do your own repairs and maintanance but not everyone can do everything and its no shame to get help in, a lot of the hands on guys on this site realy know there stuff and will probabbly work for free or beer, or trade parts, ask em. i usualy get it wrong first few times , thats why they put rubbers on the end of pencils, or they just wouldnt bother, hmm
