I can confirm P/S as former owner of 1975 GLe 4 dr sedan - it was
nice to have at the time - 1st car w/ p/s I owned. Have two 78 99
EMS and one of those upgraded to 5 spd turbo - both have manual
steering - not bad for a FWD car, but still too much for the wife
if anyone has retrofit a GLe P/S system on an EMS, please tell how
here....and other than nice to have, any reason *not* to do it?
Anyone have a spare P/S rack? :-)

Actually, 1975 model year and on had power steering on certain GL models. The GLE had it standard equipment. My father bought a 78 GLE new from the dealer that I worked at during that time period. It had Lambda, A/T and power steering, and I installed a factory A/C kit in it. He had over 200k on it before the rust got it. Traded it in on a 1986 900 base model, then a 90 9000CD..
I know that the racks weren't the Saginaws like on the 900s- they were European- possibly ZF.

I didn't think any Turbos came with P/S - they are all EMS based.
Just GLEs in '78.
