yes its 40liters when the reserve is off, but it depends of witch gasoline you put in your car. if i put 100v power by shell for exemple, i put about 2-3 ...
If the capacity is really 40 liters, I should have some error in gasoline level indicator. When in the last red small ball, I still have 14 liters on the tank....
Something like that happens with my indicator, though its made of bars on the LCD panel. Maybe 10 liters are consider to be the reserve, so the tank level...
