There's no room/need in the lineup for a Hurricane. They've got sports and
sport tourers covered and now they'll have a 1600cc cruiser with the new
Thunderbird.
On the contrary...I think they'd sell well. Ever see a Busa without a home??
Not that I'd ever need something like that, I'd still love to have one.

There's been a short thread about that Hurricane bike a couple weeks
ago. Can't remember the details and I haven't looked up the various
conversations, but I think it was some sort of sport touring bike with
bigger engine. Obviously more sport than touring. Kinda like Sprinty
looking, I guess. I for one would love a bike like this. Red, because
it's faster (I know I'm not the only one who thinks that way here :-).
I'd love a drive shaft instead of a chain, but that wouldn't be a show
stopper with a chain either. I'm not sure if that could be a
sustainable market for triumph, though; it appears the cruisers are
selling better than the sport touring here in the US...
I have a Sprint 02 right now and love it. Not that I need another
bike, but the newer Sprints, although quite nice, are not as
compelling to me as the older ones. The exhaust under the seat has
been a complaint from existing owners. I like the early 2000 look more
than the newer look. So, if I need (or want) to change bike, I'd
rather have one with something significantly improved or different
(like a bigger engine) which the newer Sprints do not offer compared
to mine.

I could'nt disagree more. They need a big bore Sport/hyper bike. A Hayabusa
killer. As much as i love my speedy there is a gap in the big bore sportbike
catagory. There have been rumors of a big tona for awhile now. I know guys
that are ready to plunk money down NOW.

YES Triumph needs a bike faster than a 'busa and uglier than a B-
King! Aspiring organ donors will be lining up to buy it. T'ell with
all these lovely well-sorted machines that deliver the true pleasures
of motorcycling at 2-digit speeds. If it can't outrun police
helicopters WTF good is it?

Why would you think I meant either? I certainly didn't say that.
One might suppose that I was suggesting motorcycles provide their
best performance at speeds most people go most of the time, and
selecting one based on its ability to attain aircraft speeds is a tad
silly for riders without any particular suicidal ideations. OTOH I
might have been dead serious (excuse the pun). You figure it out.

So I'm supposed to mean what I didn't say? I've been here a few

Very rare bird. Vetter designed looks, gas tank, seat, side panels,
etc. Very modern looking for its age. Yes, red does go faster.

The one you are talking about is the old Hurricane (I think the blurb is
"designed in America, built in Great Britain"), but there is a new Hurricane
project...the Hurricane 1300.

It seems the Hurricane 1300, actually 1275cc with around 200 horses, was put on
the back burner because at that time, (Late 2007/Early 2008) Triumph wanted to
focus on the Rocket III, Speed Triple, Tiger 1050, and Street Triple. Here's an
old thread with photo's http://bunnypunia.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Looks and designed like one heck of a machine!! I would love to have a new
Hinckley or old Meriden X75 Hurricane, but even though Triumph has Hurricane
1300 prototypes built, the previous post is right, there just doesn't seem to be
room or a need, yet, and with the old X75 Hurricane's selling on E-bay for about
$20 thousand and up, I guess the only Hurricane I'll be getting is the one with
severe winds!!!

There's no room/need in the lineup for a Hurricane. They've got sports and
sport tourers covered and now they'll have a 1600cc cruiser with the new
Thunderbird.
I like the looks but come on Triumph, dont hold back. Sheesh. Those forks
dont belong there. Get upside down, get serious. Also, i dont know if it would
actually be a 1300. Most of the other manufacturers are keepin them just south
of 1200 to be eligible for world superbike, if its a 3 cylinder. I hope it
is.

(like a bigger engine) which the newer Sprints do not offer compared
to mine.

Only 1,200 Vetter designed X75 Hurricanes produced for one year only, 1973.
Originally designed by Vetter for BSA to be the new BSA Rocket III for '73, but,
BSA went out in '72, so the Vetter BSA Rocket III project was transfered over to
Triumph, renamed "Hurricane" and eventually became badged as a Triumph. Design
was so radical, it wouldn't be until the '90's that the design would come into
common use.

[shrug] A mega-sports Eye-abuser beater doesn't interest me in the
slightest, but a stylish red-and-yellow triple (maybe based on a
Thunderbird)with a teardrop "tank", wide 'bars and forwardish 'pegs and
ESPECIALLY triple pipes on the right side would have me salivating and
clawing at my Trump dealer's door!!

YES Triumph needs a bike faster than a 'busa and uglier than a B-

all these lovely well-sorted machines that deliver the true pleasures
of motorcycling at 2-digit speeds. If it can't outrun police
helicopters WTF good is it?
