Re: [triumph_herald] Removing the quarter light windows

When doing my cars, I removed the nut, clasp washer & spring from the lower
pivot and the swivel rivet. Once the vent was out of the frame, it was easy to
gently lever the top and lower ends of the metal frame and slide out the glass.
It was even possible to reuse the original rubber seal. Re-inserting was easy
if everything was lubed with soap. I haven't found a way to replace the rivet
and so I use stainles steel machine screws with nyloc nuts and the screw shank
filed flush with the nut. It's not prototypival but isn't terribly obvious
either. Mine isn't a 'concours' car.

If someone out there knows of a suitable brass rivet replacement, I'd like to
hear of it.

By the way, the lower swivel bolt's nut tends to freeze with rust and snap off
the threaded shaft when removing the nut. I solved that problem by cutting the
spring on the shaft in half and then threading the remains of the shaft with the
correct UNF die to enable re-instalation. I suggested this once before and
others have found that it works just fine.
