Mi9ne squeaked horribly at 180K. Took it to dealer. they wanted 1400 for a
replacement compressor. I asked if they were sure it was the compressor since if
the belt was wet the squeal went away. The manager mumbled. I took it to an
independant shop. Went over this discussion. He replaced the belt tensioner for
$225. Used to old belt. It has 30K on it the original went to 150K. Works
absolutly fine,.

Try this. run the engine with the ac on and the hood up. wash the belt with the
water from the garden hose if it shuts up. the compressor ids fine, the belt has
lost tension. this will require a new tensioner or a new belt. or a simple
adjustment.
