I am not very familiar with the 2L....Had one once in a 2wd but sold it to
a guy to build a 4wd. Black smoke at full throttle and under heavy load is
common with most diesel engines. If it is not excessive don't worry about it.
With some practice you will be able to control the smoke with the throttle by
letting off just a bit. Seeing as the the black smoke is carbon and unburnt
fuel letting up on the thottle a bit won't cause a loss of power like a gas
engine but will probably gain you a minute amount as the engine will not be
blowing the unburnt fuel out the tailpipe but burning it instead. I have
driven,
and continue to, drive diesels and have learned that full throttle is not
usually the way to get the most power from a NA diesel.
