Right now, I think Toyota needs to fix this problem for free since just
driving over PCH 101 roller coaster freeway can also destroy that pan, for
as it appears Nevada's freeways aren't as tough as California's.

No auto manufacture views this as a problem. They will not fix it because
it is accident damage. Because the front of the vehicle is lower to the
ground for aerodynamics, you, the driver, must compensate by not running
over stuff that will damage the car. That includes parking blocks, rocks,
downed tree branches and so forth. If you think someone should 'fix' your
car, call your insurance company.

Same thing happened to me, I got too close to a curb and when I backed up,
the pan tore off. I removed the remaining screws and took the pan off. I
had planned to have it replaced by the dealer during next scheduled
maintenance but if price is prohibitive, I'll do it myself if I can find the
part.
