Having problems with message search?
Guys, Phil asked me the same question but he had a bit more info in the email to me...See below
"A freind of mine has a 1978 RM 125 Just did a top end rebuild .The bike is very doggy until it gets to top end rpm he said the plug looks dark he'a played with the carb many times can't get any possitive reaction"
A very important question I asked right off; Did the bike run like this before the top end was rebuilt?
Having all the info makes off site diagnosis that much more accurate.
I then replied with a list of possible issues including all those stated here.
But I think it would be a good idea to find out if this bike ran without any issues before the top end rebuild.

He might try raising the clip on the needle one notch . If it is smoking allot , he might have a bad right crank seal . One indication is if the plug has oil on it . If it is dry , but black , it is probably a rich situation . Also , he might try checking the end of the plug wire to make sure it isn't corroded . That can make it run raddical . To check the reeds , make sure they are seated against the reed cage w/no gap between the reeds and cage .
