I went back thru my emails carefully, so now at this moment, if I was
betting, I'd say that the 40 Packard was the first car with A/C & it was
offered only on 160 & 180s. Packard began marketing it on 11-4-39.
Still not sure why several sites list it as 41 though.
Also 1941 Chrysler Imperials offered AC in the brochure, I'm told.
General MacArthur's 41 Packard for Asia had ac. The 1954 Nash may have
been the 1st with cowl mounted ac. The 58 Chryslers may have been the
1st with dual ac. The 1st steel wagon with ac? Maybe 54 or 55 Pontiac.
Wood wagon? The 1940 Packard (only 1 built). The 1st all steel wagon
was 46 Crosley. First all steel Mopar wagon was 49 Plymouth. Please
LMK if you see any errors or have any corrections or doubts on any of
this. BTW, there is a 39 Packard brochure on ebay but it's at $78 & the
reserve has not been met, so I'll have to pass. Thanks :-)
