'86 BRAT dies of road cancer   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #7237 of 7282 |
While jacking the BRAT up from the side to rotate the tires, the rear suspension
ripped out of the body. Both the torque tube and the mustache bar mounting
points gave way on the passenger side.

She was in sad shape when I bought her back in April '05, and suffered a few
accidents under previous owner(s). Thoughts then were to fix her up, but the
rust had really taken hold by then, so I just made her a daily driver.

This happened on Friday July 3, and I've already swapped all of the front
suspension components over to the '85. I'll be stripping her down over the next
few days, as there is still alot of good left to her.

The '85 BRAT will not see any Winter weather, period.. Not having the road salt
eat this one away. I have an '88 GL10 FWD Wagon here that I'll be putting on the
road. It'll be the Winter beast.

This is the 2nd '86 BRAT I've lost due to road cancer. Had to scrap my '88 XT6
also due to road cancer.

DAMN the salt trucks!!!!!
