Nice bike Chad! Glad you are back at the Chang. Once you get it dialed in you
will be riding that thing all the time. Nothig like it or even comparable
besides a real BMW R71.

Changers out there. It sure is nice to have a new bike that runs with zero
problems to take me to work and around town every day. It definitely takes the
stress out of working on my CJ750 knowing that I'm not trying to hurry up and

you want to check it out. I've added a lot of accessories including saddlebags,
new pegs, luggage rack, knee pads, engine dresser bar, highway pegs, analogue
clock, idiot light upgrade, and a few other enhancements plus I have a front
signal relocation kit on the way which I'll install this weekend. I HAVE done
some work on my Chang, too, in the last few days. For those of you who remember
all that I've been through and helped me along the way, you'll be happy to know
that I put the engine back together and it runs! I ended up sanding down that
chewed piston as well as the head and hammered in my rear main seal a little bit
tighter than it was before. I put the tranny back on and fired it up the other
day. It was so good to hear that engine kick over and start up again. I was a
little worried since the last time I had her running the engine locked up. It
runs now and as far as I can tell there's no more rear main or tranny leaks.
The carbs do need to be adjusted and I haven't really gotten to that yet. I
think I'm still only firing on one side and need to figure that out before I can
really get the carbs straightened out. If I pull the spark plug on the right
side then the engine won't run at all. If I pull the plug on the left side
it'll start and run. I'm thinking that's a problem. I'm also noticing a lot of
liquid coming out of the pipes which smells like gas but it might be a mix of
gas and water. Any ideas? I hope my coil isn't bad. I haven't spent too much
time figuring it out yet and was just happy to have the engine put back
together. I bought a bike jack at Sears the other day and jacked it up which
makes my life so much easier! You might also recall that I had a problem with
some wobbling in the front and a dampner that wouldn't stay tight. Well, I've
had some tapered steering bearings sitting in a drawer for quite some time, but
hadn't tackled that job yet. today I pulled the front forks and guess what I
found....a broken upper steering bearing. I only had one replacement, so I
can't change out the lower one, but it seems to be good anyway. I have a
feeling that this might fix my problem. Oh, I have a leak in one of the forks,
too, but haven't worked on fixing that yet. I'm pretty optimistic now and plan
on working some more this weekend. If I can figure out why I'm only running on
one side then I think I'll pretty much have the bike whipped and be able to put
everything back together, cleaned up, and on the road. The only other major
thing that I need to fix is purely cosmetic and that's repaint my pipes and
mufflers. I talked to a powdercoater today and he said he could do the
mufflers, but not the pipes. I might give that a shot. First I think I'll sand
them down really good and try out grill paint. Well, I've written about enough
for one post. It's good to be back. I hope you guys are doing well.
