Hi Tim,
the trip this year was amazing
I was surprised by those f......g bikes once again
Here in shanghai they are never working
But during the trip it was quite OK
Even if mine lost all its parts, fenders, lights...
It was working perfectly, one oil change, 2 candles ... that's all
Out of 9 bikes
We broke 3 transmission, 2 gear box, had many problems with the big
carbs...
But it is nothing compared to what the bikes did !!!
Climbing at more than 5000 at 70 km/h was piece of cake !
At 5000 m i was dying while the bike was asking for more !
Two on the bike, with full tanks, 2 extra full jerrican, the army box
full of stuff, 2 spare wheels... the bike was still runing over 100 km/h
The tibetans are really nice people, the food sucks ! But who cares it
was like discovering an unknown country.
One of the great thing is the poor roads, last year in XJ it was too
much highways. This year it was mud-snow-sand... roads...so good .
One day we drove 11 hours at an impressive average speed of 18km/h !!!
The main thing on the road was to avoid to bump one Yack, who were
crossing the road all the time !
It was beautifull, and i think the best possible driving experience.
I don't know what we will do next year, i am thinking of Burma, Laos or
Vietnam. But it's gone be difficult to do better...
My bike just came back, after being rebuilt by Zhang, Disk Brake, Earl
front fork... A piece of art. I will post you some pictures
Big Thanks to Bill & Zhang for the bikes, Jason from Haiwee trails for
the Orga !
Don't hesitate to contact me for more info
