You asking me?  I just purchased a 1987 Syncro GL 7-passenger model with TiiCo engine.  Since purchasing it, I have rebuilt or replaced an awful lot of parts, including installation of the entire accessory mount system from an A2 Jetta.  The only non-engine mod so far is complete removal of the crappy factory air conditioning, which I intend to replace with an in-dash unit.  I am in California right now, preparing the Syncro for a cross-country drive to my home in Salem, NH.

There are so many typos in the web page for the quarry..I would have reservations about going there without someone else checking things out.

1) It isn't "Connlesville" , it is Connellsville.
2) It isn't "Yaughagenhy" , it is the "Youghiogheny"

Hello,

Thought I would chime in, just to show I was watching the conversation.

I would not mind someplace new.  I have been to most every SDME (all of the ones in PA over the last few years). 
having recently moved  it will be far for me no matter where it is.
I do like PA, it's cozy.  Paragon was better than Rausch Creek and with the death of Paragon the four wheeling is getting a little stale at the remaining location.

Turnout is weak (period).  We need to improve the turn out.
I think this should be the main goal of this year's SDME.  Whatever improves turnout is what we should do.

There is no way we will ever compare to the west coast.  Four wheeling is such a lifestyle out there, there are so many great places to do it, and the syncro people out there are more willing to travel.  I wont even mention the r word.

I make a concerted effort to go to this every year, as one of the things that is important to me, like a holiday or something ( you know x-mas, Kwanzaa, Hannukah... SDME).
Alot of people crap out every year for whatever reason.

So what can we do to improve attendence?

New Location??

 

The location in Pennsylvania was reachable by some of us with Syncros in the North East.  Moving to NC makes it that much harder to travel for some in the North East trying to get there.  Hopefully not limping home with a broken van.

 

I am working on my 87 Syncro with this as a possible 4wd outing.

Yes there were just 3 syncros a 2wd it was not the best time of year to be there it was hot&sweaty in NC that time of year so I left a day early and went up 3-4000ft where it was a lot cooler.
