Out of all the 93's, the red ones are my favorite!

I'm not sure if it's only the 93's that have the
problem. Dad said he saw a 96 or 97 that was pretty low
miles that was doing the same thing. It was red also,
and must've sat outside all the time. My panels under
the rear side windows are doing it also, although to
a lesser degree. Those shined up real nice with
regular wax. The mirrors didn't fare as well. When I'm
feeling lazy, I've used furniture polish on them. It
glosses them up real nice, at least until the next time
it needs washed.

So..... how many of you have mirrors that are
fading? This must be a model wide problem, as it is
mentioned by Jester in his photo gallery on his home page.

Zymol polish. Mine aren't quite as bad as his before
picture, but they're getting there... <br><br>Of course it
is far too cold up here to even think of waxing
yet.<br><br>I seem to remember the last red Japanese car I had
('84 Nissan 200sx Turbo) having this problem too, but
to a higher degree, especially on the hood because I
think the Turbo was cooking it from within.<br><br>So..
anyone else have this problem? What if anything did you
try to fix it? I'm going to try the Zymol when it
warms up, unless I hear of something even
better.<br><br>Discuss amongst yourselves....

Well..hmmm... I guess I didn't expect too much
chatter on here to begin with... Especially with our huge
membership. I was kind of hoping to draw in some lurkers who
owned 93s and see what happened. The main SVX board is
still the home for most topics.<br><br>I guess this
board won't be useful until about year 2020 or so when
the SVX finally gets the respect it deserves and
becomes collectable. When that happens, our cars should
be the most desirable because of their rarity. Well,
maybe that will happen....<br><br>Hey, we still have
more messages than the Kentucky SVXers, but I guess
that is even a more exclusive club than ours. :-)

Actually, your car did come with a 25th
anniversary sticker. Mine is in the rear passenger side
window. It is in pretty good, but not perfect shape. It's
about 2.5"x2.5" and says Silver anniversary Subaru on
it (cant remember exactly) I'll get a picture posted
tomorrow if I get a chance. Am I the only one who still
has one intact?<br><br><br>Actually, I was thinking
that removing the Subaru SVX badges from the rear and
replacing them with ItalDesign SVX or something like that.

Italian exotic :-)<br><br><br><br><br><br><br>Original

So - you all understand my code name because we
all have the same color of paint - or did you know
that the 25th Anniv SVX is painted with Barcelona Red
color?<br>My VIN number is 101078 - looks like the earliest
posted to date. I purchased it in April 1994 from the
dealer to whom it was first shipped. I went to that
dealer for another car but couldn't keep my eyes off
this car. Turns out it had sat at the dealership for
14 months!!! Had 110 miles on it when I bought it. I
now have 85,000 but will be 86,000 by next week as am
planning a trip to San Diego.<br> I haven't modified the
car at all other than putting on slightly wider tires
- to accomodate the way I like to drive around
corners.<br>I have had all the usual problems - dash crackling,
sunvisors losing their lights -all told I have bought 3 of
them. Oh, I have had to replace the speedometer at
least 3 times. The transmission went at 65,000 miles.
Air conditioner twice. In the first 6 months I needed
two computer boards. Notice these statements are not
technical - because I am not mechanically inclined.<br> All
service has been performed by the dealer who sold it to
me - all of it on time.<br>I have new front and rear
windows - I guess this is a commentary on the place I
live but the rear window had to be replaced because
someone threw a rock through it (it was parked behind a
dance studio) the window had to be ordered from Japan
and cost $650. Just a month ago I went into a grocery
store and came out to find my front windshield cracked
-some object with a right angle had either been thrown
or dropped on it - try another wait for delivery of
the glass and $1400. But my windshield is sure pretty
now!<br>The plastic pieces where the emblem is and the side
mirrors have not kept the color well. I would like to
make them shiny again. Otherwise, there are little
nicks in the paint - that you would see only if washing
it yourself. Interior is like new. Just like all of
you - I love my car and have for a long
time.<br>Regarding the total number of 25th Anniv Edition<br>SVX -
when I purchased mine, the dealer said there were
fewer than 400 made. I was surprised to read the 600
figure - so maybe it is wrong.<br>I have all the
paperwork - including the window sticker that was on
it.<br>People still look and ask questions about the car. Most
of them think it is a new design. How many times
have you heard "SVX??"<br>The other SVXers who are not
happy about this club - must be envious....<br>You
acted on a question I have had for a long time - how
many are still on the road and how are they doing and
where are they? <br>Thanks for organizing the club.

Oh yeah, a couple of items I left out. I can tell
it's had the transmission done, and it's got an

the AC condensor. And I've installed a transmission

The last four numbers of my VIN are 0240, and the
plate on my door jamb says it was manufactured 03/93.
Dad says this means that I've got unit # 240.
Everyone check theirs out and post it so we can see what
we've all got. Maybe that will tell us if there's more
than 350 units.

I bought mine in October '99, from Sports &
Imports here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They've been around a
long time and usually have really clean vehicles. It
had 83,000 on it then-- now it's got 88,000 miles.
It's in very good condition (the neighbor lady thought
it was a brand new car), with only a few minor flaws
that you really only see if you're the one washing the
car. No real modifications to the car, other than
usually running with the resistor mod. For now I plan on
babying the car, which means I'll still drive it hard
sometimes, but I'll do whatever it needs to keep it nice.
I'm running Amsoil synthetic lubricants in the
crankcase and the transmission, and I've got the gear lube
for the differentials, I just haven't put it in yet.
I'm also running the stock intake with an Amsoil air
filter. If indeed these do have some value as
collectables, I don't want to stray too far from stock. My car
was originally sold by a dealer in Louisiana in 1994,
then that owner sold it to an individual in Texas. He
apparently was the owner when the car was traded in, and
Sports & Imports up here picked it up at auction. I've
got everyone's names, in case I really wanted to be a
pest, but I'm not sure that's a polite thing to do.
I've had no 'real' problems. Dad and I changed the
left rear wheel bearing. It's got a little hiccup at
idle, which others have also. And sometimes it doesn't
turn over right away (click, try again, click, try
again). I'm not sure if that's one of the safety switches
(brake on, car in park, etc.),or if maybe the starter
solenoid has a bad spot. I haven't tried to chase any of
that down yet, though. Sorry this is so long winded,
but you asked!

I asked my dad about this after I got mine, and
saw that production was listed at 600. I thought this
sounded kind of low, and wanted him to doublecheck for
me. He checked Subaru records for me, and found out
it was actually only 350! Now keep in mind he works
for SOA, so any info I give is usually specific for
American models. He said they only titled 350 units that
were listed as 93's. I've got some 93 info listed in
my briefcase under 'technical tidbits'. Joe Spitz's
site is a great source of information, with only a few
minor incorrect statements. None of them worth
squabbling about. They made over 8,000 92's and then had
trouble selling them. The dealers said they wanted a red
car, so Subaru made all the 93's red.

Aftermarket alarm system (Clifford)<br>2. Aftermarket stereo

New slotted/drilled rotors and new brake pads.<br>9.

I bought my car at Goss Dodge (of all places) on
November 11, 1999. It had 95k miles on it then, and I just
rolled over 99k on the way to work this morning. The car
is is fantastic shape, having had all scheduled
maintenance done 5-10k miles ahead of time by the previous
owner. Currently, I have made no modifications to the
car, but am looking into either a transmission valve
body job or a transmission cooler. So far, my SVX has
performed flawlessly, from those instant 55-90MPH passes to
6 inches of fresh snow.<br><br>As for
collectibility, I am unsure. This car, to me, is an unfortunate
story. Everything about the SVX spells exotic, unique
and well-built. Unfortunately I don't think the
general public, or even 'car enthusiasts,' will ever know
this.<br><br>Isn't it just the coolest thing, though, to have a car
