Re: [suzukigrandvitara] Timing chain vs. belt

Hi all.

Carlos is absolutely correct.  I'm located in the Caribbean and here we have 1.6L 5-door GVs that carry timing belts, not chains.  I know the combination is strange since the manual only refers to a 3-door 1.6L.

One small correction though.  I'm a HE not a SHE.

Thanks for your comments.  As my original post indicated, I was wondering if there is a time component to the change interval in addition to the milege component.  You know how they sometimes say to change XYZ every 5,000 KM or 3 months, whichever comes first.

I guess the original poster has to chime in here with a bit more info, i.e.
regarding geographical location, in order to determine whether she has a
belt or chain and how often it should be changed.
