I have a 1987 Subaru GL 1.8L 4wd just rebuild it I have the Haynes manual for
it. But leaves me hanging for the vacuum hoses. The guy I bought it from had
already taken the air filter and hoses off. I thank you so much if some one can
help me out.
Thank-you

Have him go to a Subaru parts department and have them order it for him. I would
replace all the cross member bolts if one broke. Some of the better automotive
parts stores (NAPA comes to mind) might be able to supply a replacement as well.
This is NOT anything that would seem to be difficult to locate. Also, you did
not say the Year/Model Subaru you were having repaired.

My brother (a GM mechanic who is pretty uncomfortable working with our Subaru)
has been helping with a (standard) transmission problem (rebuilding it). He has
run into several small problems with the exhust system... most of them he has
resolved, but he seems to be having troubles finding a replacement cross-member
bolt that broke during this process.
Does anyone have any ideas where we could find one?

I've got a 2001 Legacy,L,...it has that same socket(no cap...),it
takes a 20-amp fuse...but,this "mod" only works if the car has a
Variable-central-differential-(VCD for short)...
After installing that fuse,a light on the dash will light up,
(FWD),to indicate that the rear wheels aren't being driven-no VCD-
nothing happens.
go to www.cobbtunning.com and check things out. I dont see them offering any
after market ignition systems, but you can get into the various blogs there.
Since it is a performace company, (highly rated) you will get some good
information.

Hey,to all,
I'm new to Subies,(maybe it's y's ??? ),any way-here's my question:
I've already used Nology Hot-Wires for an RS of the same year as my
car:2001 Legacy L wagon/AWD/2. 5 N/A.
Looking at a couple of boxes.Crane, Mallory,Summit Racing.Anybody
have suggestions? (Keeping in mind,so I've heard,"... with module
trigger for cars that are OBD 2 certified... so that ETC's/MIL light
does not come on..."
Anything to that last bit?? or is just another way to sell that
particular ignition?
Any help that anyone would be able to give me with this matter
would be much appreciated.

hi, I have this car that needed a head gasket on the passenger side. I
replaced it, but I only took apart that side. I put it back together
but now its out of time. Can anyone tell me where the timing marks
should be? The book I have shows 3 different settings. So are they at
the top or at a 45 degree angle? thanks

under your hood near the windshield there is a little cap that says
FWD you can put a fuse in it for Front Wheel Drive i'm told...also you
can put in a fuse to have it towed instead of using a flatbed truck to
haul. never tried it, but that is how it is supposed to work...good luck
I have a friend that had mentioned to me that I could somehow
diconnect my AWD and just run on 2WD, increading my milage per gallon.
I was wondering if anyone had any experience/advice or if this was
even doable/relatively easy?

Sorry everyone ~
I thought I had sent the first one but guess not here we go again 3rd
time a charm right :)
Ok I have a 94 Subaru Legacy SW. My #4 spark plug hole needs to be
rethreaded. We've tried the epoxy crap and it didn't work. So is this
something I could do myself with a tap and die? Or do I have to take
the head into a machine shop and have it done?
I need the most inexpensive way possible. But I do want it done right
so no more problems.
Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thank you everyone :)
Sorry I accidently hit the send.
So do I need to take the head to a machine shop to do. Or is this
something I can do myself?
Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks :)
I have a 1986 Subaru 4WD GL-10 Turbo, with Automatic transmission. The
governor gear blew while driving on the highway and i had it replaced
and about 2 months later also driving on the highway the gear blew
again, I had it replaced and almost never drive it , i was told i
should get a new transmission or have this one rebuilt. I cannot find
a junk yard that has one and was wondering if i can put in one from a
newer year?

Hi...your water pump may be bad, but i think you may have a warped
head or a hairline crack in your head. (inside the engine) Are you
blowing white smoke out of your exhaust??
i have a 91 legacy 2.2 motor, thought it had ablown head gasket
because it kept over heating and because the antifreeze over flow tank
kept, well, overflowing. i put an obd I sniffer in the tank and checked
for hydrocarbons, bingo. so, i pull the heads, number 3 cylinder is
clean and the carbon is peeling off the valves, so i think to myself,
problem solved. replace the head gaskets fire it up and it runs fine,
for four hours. now it over heats but no more overflowing over flow.
what the heck is going on? ive replaced the thermostat twice, once
before and once after the head gaskets. still my coolant wont
circulate...
to make the car drivable, i cut the valve out of an old thermostat and
i can see the coolant circulating through the radiator. so its
driveable right now. any idea what could be causing a lack of
circulation with a functional thermostat in the car?
Hi all :)
Sorry I hit the send button too fast.
I am also wondering if anyone knows where I can get an owner's manual
for my 91 Subaru Legacy LS. Not like the Chilton or Haynes manuals but
like one that would have been with the car when it was purchased brand
new?
I'm kinda hoping for an expensive one hopefully free.
Thanks again,
Kim
I have a 91 Subaru Legacy LS and the driver side visor won't stay up.
Is there an easy way to fix this? Would appreciate any help I can get
on this.
Thanks,
Kim
I am currently at my winter volunteer job in the Collorado Rockies. I
notice a great deal of snow and ice built up in the wheel wells. My
wife is concerned that this may have an impact on tire wear. Could
this be an issue?
turns out even tho titled as an 86 its an 87. Thanks

range trany. the hardest part is for me to find the plastics and trim

I own a 2000 Legacy Wagon and would like to avoid going to my very expensive
dealer. I
need to change the headlight bulb only on passenger side. The high beams work
and I don't
think it's the fuse. How easy is it to do? Does anyone have a clear simple set
of step by step
instructions? Thanks!
