Camping, Biking and Scootering... and Kayaking...This is a GLBT Family and
Friends event
everyone is welcome!
A core group of friends have been getting together for over 16 years. - 35 and
55 mile
routes for those biking. The scooter/moped route will include stops for food,
pub, and
other points of interest.. Friday Night, Saturday Night - catered dinners,
breakfast
Saturday and Sunday. Over 70 people attended last year!
The "resort" has hotel rooms, cabins and areas for tents and campers. If you
are
interested in attending please contact me (airstreamguy@mac) or the email below.
Please help get the word out. Fees will be announced soon - but they will be
very
reasonable. We'll have "slow races" and a "drag" race too.. Along with other
traditional
camp activities. If you can help spread the word about this event that would be
great...
Hope to see you there!
From the Organizers:
Located in Oscoda County near Mio, our 2008 venue offers a secluded rustic
campground
that will reserve a large section exclusively for the use of Camp Out Michigan
Bike Tour
participants. There are no electric hook ups. There will be water available.
There will be
CLEAN porta-potties in the camp area and it's just a short walk up the hill to
flush toilets
and hot showers.
This year we can also offer on-site accommodations in "1950s vintage" motel
rooms or
rustic cabins. These are not luxury rooms by any stretch of the imagination but
they're
clean and cozy. Think of it as "camping" but with indoor plumbing & electric.
Each motel
room or cabin has 2 double beds and can accommodate up to four people.
We'll also have a Sunday canoe/kayak trip this year. A local canoe livery will
come right to
the campground to pick us up and take us to the AuSable River.
We'll begin registrations in the near future but we wanted to announce the dates
and
location as soon as possible so you could begin making plans to attend this
year's event!
Please contact us by email if you have any questions before we send out the
announcement that registrations are open.
