Join fellow Audi TT enthusiasts in a "beat the heat" drive to cool
Mount Charleston on the Fourth of July weekend, Saturday July 6. We
will meet between 4:30 and 5 PM at Wendys just east of the Cheyenne
exit of Route 95 in the NW part of town. From there we will drive as
a group the "long" way to the Mt. Charleston Hotel for drinks and/or
supper. We will take 95 north to the Lee Canyon road and then drive
the curves across the mountain to the Lodge. Those that can't make
the group drive can meet us at the Lodge at 6 PM.
Afterwards you can stay for the sunset or tackle the mountain roads
again. Be advised that police patrols are usually heavy during
holidays and sobriety checkpoints are often in place on Mt.
Charleston.
Please email me if you plan to attend and for dinner reservations
(limited seating for the holidays).

Hi! We are new TT owners. We just got it about 3 weeks ago. We love it! I
just recently joined the club. This event really sounds like fun. We will
try to clear the 8th so we can go! It will probably be my dad and I, if we
can clear the date. Put us down for a maybe...if we clear the date, we will
let you know.....we really want to go!!!!!

Unfortunately I and my wife terrie will not be able to attend this one.
We're new TT owners from San Diego with two teen agers in the house as
well. Keep us posted on your events and with more lead time - to farm
the kids out to friends and neighbors, we'd love to be involved.

Subject: [Southern California Audi TT Club] Firm date set for next SoCal
TT Club meet and luncheon...
Okay, I now have a date nailed down for our next SoCal TT Club
event. It will start in the Irvine area, wind through twisty and
scenic canyons, and end up at Senor Licos in Trabuco Canyon. Once
there, we will enjoy delicious Mexican food and margaritas. Yum!
Some may remember that we did this about a year ago, so we are now
repeating it due to popular demand.
We're going to meet Saturday, June 8th at 11:30-11:45 am at the
Ralphs supermarket lot, which is located at 2620 Chapman (714-289-
4450). To get there, take whatever to the 55, and exit at Chapman.
Ralphs is just east of the 55. If you're late and miss the group,
just head out to the Senior Licos, as directions are provided below.
Senor Licos is located at 20722 Rose Canyon Road in Trabuco Canyon.
Their phone number is 949-858-0724. To get there follow the group
or:
From the 55, take either Katella or Chapman East and they will run
into Santiago Canyon. If you're coming from the north, you'll hit
Katella first, from the south, you'll hit Chapman first.
Continue east on Santiago Canyon for quite some distance and go left
at Cook's Corner.
Cook's Corner will wind around and you'll continue on it until you
get to Rose Canyon Road, where you'll make a left.
Senor Licos will be located on the right side of the street.
Also, please e-mail me and let me know if you plan on attending. I
have reservations for 20, but I would like to give them an accurate
head count, out of fairness to the restaurant.
This was a lot of fun last time and should be the same this time as
well. Again, please let me asap if you are planning on attending
and I'll look forward to seeing you there!

After only 1 day, we have 9-10 TTs and 15 attendees. I'm guessing
we'll get a fair number of others too, so it will probably be a
decent turnout.
To view the list of attendees, follow the link which will continue
to be updated. If you are planning on attending, please let me know
if you haven't already. I also need to know if you are bringing a
guest. Here's the link:

Sounds great. I too am new to the group and looking forward to
meeting other TT owners....especially those with modifications. I
will be there with my wife, Pam. See you on the 8th.

Soon, I will share info for our next drive and lunch, which will
most likely be at Senor Licos in Trabuco Canyon. I expected to have
the details ironed out by now, but I have been sick since I returned
from the TT-East rally in Asheville N.C. (flu going on 2 weeks now).
If you didn't see my TT-East photos, follow the link below.
Clicking on a photo will take you to the next in the series. Here's

I have a 2001 TTR and I just recieved sponsorships from B&G
suspension (Free lowering springs 1.5inch drop) and a sponsorship
from B&M racing (Free Short Shifter). Does anybody know of a good
shop or mechanic that can install these parts for me? For those
wondering how I got these sponsors. Before getting my TTR my other
car is a 200sx se-r which I have raced and shown at car shows for the
past 7 years, I the sponsors that I have from that car and now
helping me build the TTR.
There is a 10th Annual Charity VW & Audi Motor-sport Show. The show
is scheduled on Sunday May 12, 2002 at Moffett Field is located only
30 to 40 minutes south of San Francisco in the heart of Silicon
Valley. For more informations go to the link below. I just want it
to pass this info to everyone who is interested. Cheers! Andy C. =)

Hello everyone, i'm looking for some audi tt owners who purchased a
computer chip from neuspeed and what they can say about it. i am
planning to change my chip on Monday....help......
Tonight, some of you may have received a solicitation from an
individual who joined and promptly spammed us. That individual has
been permanently banned from the group, so hopefully, that's the
last of it.
Also, please be sure to keep your e-mail address up to date. I am
removing members whose e-mail addresses are invalid. 9 members were
removed from the group tonight, however unlike the spammer, they are
welcome to re-join in the future with an updated e-mail address.
That's all for now. I'm really looking forward to TT-East in North
Carolina in a couple of weeks and hope to see at least a few of you
there!
Several of you have told me that you enjoyed the drive, lunch and
margaritas that we did at Senor Licos in Trabuco Canyon back in
July. So by popular request, we're going to do it again!
I don't have a specific date just yet, but I will keep you posted.
I will be attending the TT East event in South Carolina during the
first part of May, so the next Senor Licos/Trabuco Canyon Run will
occur within 30-45 days of the close of that rally.
For now, just make a mental note, and I'll be back to you with the
details at a later date.
Hi to all my SoCal bretheren. The first Las Vegas TT gathering will
be at the IN-N-OUT BURGER just west of I-15 off the Tropicana exit on
Saturday May 4. We will be at the North end of the parking lot from
noon to 2 PM. This is just a "drive-in" gathering to get started.
Future events and organized drives will be posted here. If you want
to be on my email list, please contact me at brickner@.... Stop
by and say hi if you are in town.

Thanks to all who attended and helped to make yesterday's Salton Sea
Run a lot of fun, at least in my opinion. We got a fair amount of
snow, which really added to the experience.
To view a short write-up and a link to the photos, click here:

I sent a message that will give you directions to the Salton Sea
run, but thus far, Yahoo has not delivered it (for mysterous reasons
that escape me). So you may get it, and maybe not. Just in case
they dropped the ball, or the message is cut off, follow this link
to view the directions, and I'd suggest printing them and bringing
the printout along with you.
http://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/499235.phtml
I'll give directions as if you're coming from the coast. Those
coming from the inland can probably figure this out, and just need
to make their way to 15.
Coming from the coast, take I-5 to 78E.
78E to 15S.
15S to the Via Rancho Parkway exit.
R. at the end of the ramp, and you'll see the North County Fair
entrance and turn left.
Left again at the first opportunity. You'll see Macys then Sears on
your right. Then a giant "Westfield Shoppingtown" sign on the
left. We'll meet at the sign. Remember that there are gas stations
at the entrance, so you might gas up there.
All odometer readings are approximate. I will discontinue these at
the point where I have modified the route. Set your odometer to
zero at the North County Fair meeting spot.
0.3 Right turn at the traffic light.
0.5 Left turn onto I-15 South.
1.4 Exit at Pomerado Road (stay to the right).
2.0 Left turn onto Highland Valley Road (watch for sand).
12.1 Left turn at stop sign onto Highland Valley Road.
13.2 Right turn at yield sign onto Highland Valley Road.
15.5 Left onto Hwy 67.
19.2 Right into Sizzler for quick bathroom break.
19.2 Right onto Hwy 67.
19.3 Quick right onto Third Street.
19.8 Third Street becomes Old Julian Hwy.
21.4 Bear left at fork and remain on Old Julian Hwy.
27.6 Right onto Hwy 78.
36.7 Left onto Wynola Road (watch for sand).
41.0 Left onto Hwy 78.
57.7 Left onto Yaqui Road (S3).
64.6 Right into Casa del Zorro. Private parking in rear.
64.6 Right onto Yaqui Road (S3).
64.7 Left onto Borrego Springs Road.
70.2 Go around Christmas Circle & exit onto Palm Canyon Rd/S22.
98.2 Left onto 86.
109.1 Right onto Monterey.
109.4 Left onto Thomas.
109.6 Right onto Capri.
110.2 Left for a picture by the Salton Sea!
The mileage doesn't add up at this point, but we'll figure it out.
Left onto Thomas.
Right onto Monterey.
Right onto 86.
116.0 or so, left into Oasis Station.
Some Miata Commercial was filmed here. Do we care?
Please zero your odometers.
0.0 Right onto 86.
15.4 Right onto S22
43.3 Right onto Christmas Circle.
43.4 Right onto Palm Canyon Road.
44.9 Left onto S22 Montezuma Valley Road.
62.7 Right onto S2.
67.5 Left at T intersection onto 79.
71.9 Right onto 76.
Right S7.
Left S6 (Heavy Twisties!).
Left 76.
Right Mesa Grande.
Runs into 79 (Right)
Stop @ Dudley's Bakery for freshbread/desserts/restroom.
78 West, which will cross 15 and take you back to I-5. Once we
cross 15, you are on your own. Hope you had fun!
As you may be aware, we are doing a Salton Sea Run this Saturday,
March 16, 2002 at 10 am. The meeting spot will be at the North
County Fair shopping center in Escondido, and specific directions
and an itinerary will follow in a message which will immediately
follow this one. I have modified the original route a bit which
will make it a touch longer, but will also give us some extra Mount
Palomar bonus twisties!
So far, it looks like about 11 TTs and 14 attendees will show up.
If you would like to attend but aren't on the list (below), or vice-
versa, please let me know asap.
You'll want to start with a full tank of gas, and there are several
gas stations at the entrance to the North County Fair mall. I'd
also suggest that you bring water, a camera, sunscreen, sunglasses,
and a Family Service Radio, if you have it. We will be operating on
channel 7 code 7 (which kind of looks like TT). You might also
bring a light sweater or jacket, as even though we will be traveling
through the desert, we will also be driving through mountainous
terrain, and the weather can be variable.
Again, you'll be doing a substantial amount of driving, and this
event will occupy much of your day. I do think you'll find this run
rewarding and a lot of fun.
Here's the preliminary list of who I am expecting:
1. Yours Truly and guest.
2. Richard James.
3. Riaan Oosthuysen (that's easy for you to say!).
4. Ron and Mary Stein.
5. Tom "TP" Mangan and Mrs. TP.
6. Someone whose last name is Castillo (no first name in message).
7. Ian Tonks.
8. Dave Schumacher.
9. Gina Castle.
10. Gary Mitchell.
11. Rob aka SD TT.
Directions and itinerary to follow...
First of all, the SoCal TT Club companion site has been migrated
from Yahoo Clubs to Yahoo Groups. I'm really not sure what the
difference is, but clicking on the old link will still get you
here. If you want to bookmark the site directly, the url is:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/southerncaliforniaaudittclub.
Of course, the infrequently updated home page remains
http://www.socalttclub.org.
Also, we are still on for the Salton Sea Run on Saturday, March
16th. We will be meeting at or near the North County Fair shopping
center in Escondido. Give me a couple of days to determine the
exact spot where we'll meet, as I need to drive there and take a
look.
I need to know if you think you'll be attending and whether or not
you'll be bringing a guest. At the bottom of this message is a list
of who we're expecting. If you're not on the list and should be, or
vice-versa, please let me know.
This run should occupy most of your day, and you're going to be
doing a lot of driving. Still, you'll hit some very nice twisties,
a lot of long straightaways, and experience City, County, Mountain,
Desert, and Salton Sea terrains. This is a run that was shared with
us by member Jack Hinkle, and I think you will enjoy it.
We'll also do a stop at the Casa del Zorro resort in the Anza
Borrego desert. They want us to do a catered lunch which should run
$20-$25 per head plus tax and tip, but I'm trying to just order off
of the menu. They're trying to convince me that doing the catering
thing is just as cost-effect, but I'm not buying it. Still, bring
some cash just in case.
You'll get another message or two from me before next weekend. I'll
be giving you exact directions, and also the specific meeting spot.
Until then, don't forget to let me know if you'll be attending and
if you'll have a co-pilot along with you. Here's the preliminary
list of who I am expecting:
1. Yours Truly and guest.
2. Richard James.
3. Riaan Oosthuysen (that's easy for you to say!).
4. Ron Stein.
5. Tom "TP" Mangan and Mrs. TP.
6. Someone whose last name is Castillo (no first name in message).
7. Ian Tonks.
8. Dave Schumacher.
9. Gina Castle.
10. Gary Mitchell.
11. Rob aka SD TT.
