My Force will be getting a lithium pack in the near future. 100 AH CALB
batteries are waiting to be installed.

Thanks to all who have advised along the way.

I have one also, that has only the 12 v lighting, when the headlights are
switched on. Have checked the AH fuse - OK.

If this is the usual Brusa BC29, the usual problem is that the coating
on the PC board has failed, and water has condensed there and caused a
short. If it doesn't work at all, the first place to look is the
resistor in the power cable to the electronics. In any case look for
burned traces on the board. Usually it is obvious and easily
repaired.

See earlier messages to this list for more about this problem.

I have used various synthetic DEXRON III products. Just changed the fluid this
afternoon and used a Redline product.
http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=51&pcid=9

It made the drive gear quieter and smoother than it has ever been. And it wasn't
very loud before.

I was not having any problem with the drive and just picked Redline this time as
they are a local company. About the same price as the other synthetics I have
used.

I don't put many miles on the car but have made a habit of changing the drive
fluid at a 12 month interval. Will use this from now on. May buy a few qts to
be covered for future use.

The Brusa AMC3xx series controller has according to the manual cruise capability
designed into it. I can't verify if this is in the units that Solectria
installed or is a option. The manual is in the files section.

Mike,

Little research info. Dexron is a GM standard for transmission fluid.
They stopped making and issuing licenses for production of Dexron III
back in 2006. It was replaced by Dexron IV then later by Dexron VI, for
some reason they skiped V. All versions of Dexron are backward but not
forward compatiable (I.E. 6 will replace 3 but not the other way around).
Each
version is supposed to be significantly better than the previous with
improved viscosity, durability, etc. Dexron VI, according to GM specs
at least, should improve a transmissions life expectancy and reduce fluidic
drag (increase fuel economy). According to GM only companies that meet
their exact specs can get a license to print Dexron on their products.
Since Redline calls their products D4 and D6 (not Dexron), they likely
aren't licensed. I'm not saying their bad in any way, but they may not
be exact spec.

Thanks Eric
My point was that this worked better at quieting than the Dexron's that I have
drained out of the gear box every year since 2004 including the dex 6 put in
last year and it was noticeable within a few 100 feet.

Redline does sell a Dexron 6 ATF and claim that there products exceed all Dexron
specs. I may try their D6 next year as it is a "mileage" formula which is what
the newer Dexron 6 was designed to improve in automatic transmissions.

http://www.redlineoil.com/content/files/tech/ATF%20PDS%201-10.pdf

I strongly believe in using dexron in any manual gearbox designed for it. My
dodge truck transmission went over 300,000 miles on it and the finally needed a
main bearing change. Transmission was rebuilt using all the original gears and
syncro's.

but you'd have to reprogram it for 144V.

Ken, Thanks, do you know how difficult they are to re-program?

I'm afraid I've never dealt with a UMOC controller. If it were an
AMC325, you would need a converter to interface your computer's serial
port to RS485 and some program from Brusa to run on your PC.

It may be a moot point, because I can now see that case is very large
anyway, and would probably not fit in the space I have, even if it were
fairly easy to convert.

One thing you might try is to contact the local electric vehicle club, there is
a very active one based in Santa Cruz and they will probably have someone who is
able to help.

Both were given to me by members of the EV community and I would like to extend
the favor to someone (or two) that can use them. I sold my E10 a few years ago.
While I miss it, I plan to buy an new plug in hybrid when the time comes.
I do remember the 276 volt version was tough to find.

Question: Does the ccshell program I use with my DMOC controller also work with

If not, does anyone have the ccshell equivalent for the 325?

Windows XP is the newest operating system my ccshell will work with. If you can
support that, I can send you a copy of the software.
