Re: [SOCALVETTES ENTHUSIAST PAGE] northern ca clubs

Hello. Just joined Socalvettes and saw your e-mail queries.

1 Join up with sanfranciscocorvetteclub in the Yahoogroups. I just
did, if you're from NorCal.

2 For headers, go for Hedman Hedders as they have the smog tubes for
hookup, even though the 1975 is Calif smog exempt now, you might
still want to do that. I have a set for my 1976.

They also sell standard headers without tubes if you want that, but
regardless, the Hedman ones are very heavy duty compared to others.
They were the company that invented headers. Best price is thru Jegs
catalog www.jegs.com or the Summit Racing catalog.

3 The answer with the 2 cats for true dual exhaust by the other guy
is correct. Best price is through Corvette Central catalog over all
the others, as they throw in the mufflers free and all the other
catalogs charge the same price or more, with mufflers extra. Or have
it welded locally at a shop, but make sure the guy knows corvettes,
as most shops don't have a clue how to bend the pipes correctly
around the spare tire area, both the lift and the angle, and usually
get it wrong. Check if they do C-3 corvettes and see the work first.

4 Many non-computer, physical attendance clubs in NorCal. I am just
beginning to get bolted into all of them, as I needed to do a lot of
summer car work before socializing. Now I am ready to jump in. More
heavily represented in the San Jose area, than the North Bay, but
there are a bunch of them out there. I just missed one in San Jose
that was at a Hamburger stand in late August and 50 cars showed up.
This I know because I bought wheels from one of the guys that
attended and I was dealing with after-work traffic from Walnut Creek
to San Jose and missed an opportunity.

Best regards, Jim.
