I believe the majority of 1984 FL, FLH, FLHS, FLT parts are
interchangeable, Harley tried to sqeeze alot of extras and funky
combos out the door before changing to the Evo motor, in fact most of
the bolt on parts range from 70-84.

I believe our lawyer has ok'd our Shovelrider "T" shirt design, as
long as we print the following disclaimer on the shirts.
"Logo is three seperate shapes containing text and should not be
confused with any other group or company"
The first run of shirts will be run for Orange County California.
If you have enough interest in your local county, you may order your
own shirts thru me (minimum of two dozen).

Central Coast Ca. (Monterey Bay) Ride a 78 Fx converted to a Fl sorta. Can't make it to the meeting because tranny seal went out after 1000 miles ,third seal in 3000 miles and am waiting for the shop that did some work for me to do some warrenty work, which is like pulling teeth. I was plannig on doing Mid State , but that ain't happenning either. The wrench that did the work is a H.A. and he's got bankers hours if you get my drift and can't find anybody else around here that does shovels. I built the shovel out of a basket and never have never done motor or tranny work myself and am a little hesitent to tear in to it. could replace the whole tranny with a 5 speed but, times are tight and monies are needed elsewhere like school books and cloths for kid. It took me two years to build the shovel and I just got done putting in a Crane Hi-4 ,rebiuld S&S e., top end,Dyno Powered Fishtails and 5 finger 7 pad clutch with the long finger bearings, new style comp spocket, a new ele. system (wires and buttons and ing. switch),including a spike 32 amp. charging system now if I could get the tranny to quit leaking I'd be good to go. This is my third Hog and my fifth build. I started on 42-45 flathead in the early 70s .then a 56-61 in panhead. So the shovel is the newest Harley I've ever owned. Hey if I could get my hands on one of those Shovelrider shirts that would be to cool.
Hope to be in the wind again soon, .....................o~`o
Thanks for the invite: Omer W. Evans (Omar)
S&S is a very reputable company that builds really good motors. The motor will come completely assembled, more than likely from carb to electronicsl, which will all be covered under their company warranty. Also, you will have your stock motor that you will be able to sell to recover some of the money you spent on the S&S motor. I suggest going with the complete assembly from S&S. You'll be miles ahead.
Correct me if I am wrong i thought Sporty of that year were considered Iron Heads?

How about I bring this group to Houston, Texas? Anyone object??? Would love to have a satellite branch of your club here for those of us die hards.

I ride a 1970 stock Electraglide and have had about every problem you
could imagine and it seems to me that if you want a reliable motor
you should stay as close to stock as possible on your original Harley
motor.
If you want power and speed then the new version of shovel motors are
better all around. They oil better, leak less, more horse power, and
come with a warranty. Downfall is more money.

well I quess that depends on do you want to learn about your motor or do you want to ride... easy is not always the best. but do you have the time to invest in a rebuild? hunt around for some local shops and see lead times and cost you may be surprised... either way gooooooood luck.

Enjoy your site and am glad to see one for shovels. Don't live in
Cali; live in Florida. Hope this club takes off so we can get a
chapter out here because I know a few shovel riders out here.
For your info, my baby was a '69 but is now a 2003 custom, complete
overhaul. Started her in 1993 in Tempe, Arizona. She now has a 93"
motor. Kept the heads, rocker boxes and frame. Feel free to look at
my pics of her in the photo album. I've done some of the work myself
and had some help from friends.

Hello,
I ride a slightly customized '80 FXS. What I would like to find are
some of the original tank decals, you know, with the AMF still on them.
Would you happen to have any of those laying about? Also, do you have
any kind of list or price sheet of the stuff you have available?
Thanks,
Loyal
'80 FXS-80
Hello All- Just wanted to let you know that I have a ton of OEM parts for Shovelheads, especially 1977 up Lowriders. I have some really nice, correct air cleaner assemblies, brake pedals, kick arms, dash assemblies, etc. Let me know if I can be of help. Thanks and Happy 4th to Everyone!!!
NO- My 1977 FXS that I bought brand new still has the stock connecting rods in it- the female one is weak however, and it has 321,000 miles on it. No reproduction will give that kind of service. Shovels Forever!!!

We are cosidering changing the monthly meeting/breakfast/ride before
there are too many of us, from the first Sunday of every month to the
first Saturday of every month. Same time and place 10:00am Lakeview
Cafe on the corner of Orangethorpe and Lakeview in Anaheim CA.
I have for sale, several sets of Shovelhead Rocker Boxes. Some
complete, and some bare. Also, some really nice Shovel Cylinder
Heads. E-Mail for photos.
From March 2002 thru March 2003 there were only three members in this
club. Actively seeking members was not a priority. This April and
May we have gained seven new members and I have been passing out
Shovelriders M.C. cards at local events.
I believe it is time to seek new members to make this club benefit
ALL of us.
At the Memorial Day ride in Riverside CA. I spoke with several
Shovelriders who were very interested in the ideals and intent of
this club.
John Acosta AKA EZG
Welcome Shovelriders! If you know any Southern CA Shovelriders send
them this way, the first order of club business is to actually have
members that ride together once a month.
I will give this project til May of 05 to gather momentum. If it
survives, we will seek out riders and new chapters where ever there
is enough interest. If it fails, hey we all still have our Shovels.
I have seen other shovel clubs fail or fade into nothing, perhaps it
was due to lack of funding or planning.
