Hello seva

I was thinking about this last night.  I know you do not need to have a motorcycle endorsement if the bike or scooter is less then 50cc.  Maybe she can use that.

The other things it Wa DOT has a motorcycle class.  In Kirkland, I know it is 2 Thrusday nights and 2 Saturdays for the course.  I think there is one in the south and one in Seattle.  By taking the class and passing it will cover the riding test for the endorsement.  All she would have to take it the written.  I think the class was $50.

Just some ideas.

Hi Steven,
I was wondering what I would be doing with Trucklet on Mother's Day. You
and me (and others?) at Wallingford UMC sounds good.
What time?
Should we talk more off the list?

With encouragement,
John Marshall

We have been invited to speak at the Wallingford United Methodist
Church on the subject of Electric Vehicles on May 9th. At this point
that is probably no problem for ME, but is there any one out there who
could bring their EV for show-n-tell ?? ( John Marshall ?? are you

I have tentatively committed to the lecture, but would like to have a

Subject: More EVers needed for Lacey Alternative Fuel Fair
roylemeur@...

Below is the info for not only the Lacey EVent but also for the EVent
Roderick Wilde is involved with in Port Townsend this coming weekend.

But I really want to speak as to why it is important to support these types
of EVents.

I attended the Seattle Alternatively Fueled Vehicle Fair (I wonder where
they got that name :^D) last weekend at Discovery Park, as did our
illustrious president Steve Lough.

There were only about a dozen vehicles being exhibited and I was skeptical
as to how many folks might attend.

Well… we were swamped with folks who were very hungry for the info, I talked
pretty much continuously to all types of folks that were eager to learn as
did the other exhibitors. All three local TV networks were there and shot a
lot of footage, there was substantial print and radio media too. All this
for maybe 12 vehicles.

Point being- EVs (and other alternatives to gasoline) appear to be hotter
right now than they have been since the “fuel crisis” of the 70s, Joe Sixpak
is hungry for the info. As fuel prices continue to rise there will be more
and more interest. I believe we need to strike while the iron is hot and do
whatever we can to help promote the adoption of this technology.

If any SEVA folks can manage to drag themselves and/or their EVs out to any
or all of the upcoming Events, PLEASE DO!

EVent info below.

Yes it's true. It's our first Earthday event here in Port Townsend, WA. On
the 18th we will be taking about a dozen electric vehicles ranging from
electric garden tractors and rototillers (gardening shouldn't be obNOXIOUS),
personal mobility scooter, electric bicycle & scooter, land speed record
Bonneville Salt Flats barstool, FT's drag bikes and other strange FT
vehicles, our yellow street rod, our high speed golf cart, etc. It should be
mass fun!

Yeah, this is being discussed on the Sparrow list right now. I would guess
you need a "motorcycle endorsement" for your drivers license because the
Sparrow is licensed as a Motorcycle. I already had one, so I didn't worry
about it.

She should be able to take the Sparrow to a license office, and take the
test. Though it is rather silly to need to.

Got a CALL this after noon from Debby, who bought Tony's Sparrow.

She is trying to INSURE it with the Same company which Tony was using,
but now they are demanding from Debby that she have an "Motorcycle
endorcement" on her drivers license...????

Now if you do not have to ware a Helmet in a Sparrow, and a Sparrow has
a steering wheel,, NOT handle bars... why would you have to have
a "motorcycle entorcement" ??

SO will all you Sparrow owners please get a hold of Debby and give her
some INSIGHT as to what to do... or not do...

OR is it possible that ALL Sparrow owners also drive motor cycles ???

Also.... Alaster... Please CALL Dave Cloud ( 425-788-9293 ) ASAP

While I always appreciate the enthusiasm of our enthusiastic president

Please don't contact Kathleen Burns directly for info. She is WAY innundated
with stuff right now.
And is not really that hip on the EV aspects of it.

I am on the planning committee for this EVent and would be happy to answer
any questions.

We really want and need a few things for this EVent. You can help.

-More EVs and EV folks! drag em on down here.

-we would love to have a escooter/ebike dealer as exibitor

-we want an RE exhibitor

-tell the media, EVs have not been this hot since the 70s, Joe Sixpak is
hungry for the info

lets strike while the iron is hot, please participate!

I would be happy to answer any questions.

Subject: Great EV tow vehicle for sale
geoff@...
Send Email Send Email

Hi all,

I am selling my ICE '97 F-150. I've used it to tow Paul Gooch's rad EV
buggy down to the Portland EV show, and it did well. I figure I would
give the SEVA list first chance at it before I start putting it in the
papers and such. Here are the specs:

Pacific Green '97 F-150 Supercab (seats five, or back seats fold down
into a flat steel surface for protected storage of gear)
Third door to access rear seat area
4.2L V8 gasoline engine
RWD with ltd. slip differential
Auto+overdrive w/locking torque converter
Unloaded it averages 15-18 MPG depending on how you drive it
Has full-length 8' bed with a locking Pace-Edwards Roll-Top retractable
aluminum/vinyl tonneau cover
Locking tailgate and bed light
Line-X spray-in bed liner
Tow package and harness adapter
Power locks/windows/mirrors factory alarm & keyless entry
Captain's chairs w/armrests and center storage console
AM/FM/Tape/CD changer
Auto-dimming rear-view mirror w/compass and outside temp display
Airbags & ABS
Running boards
Tinted sliding rear window (has a minor leak any glass company could
fix)
Smooth & quiet ride
New brakes and tires
80,000 miles - clear title

I will be listing this in the papers for $10,000. As you can see, it's
pretty luxurious by truck standards. It looks essentially new, although
I have used it as a truck, so there are some scratches around the bed
here and there. There is some light body damage on the right rear
fender where a friend who was driving scraped a concrete column
(argh!). I had an estimate to fix it at $800, which included repainting
that side of the bed. However, since no bare steel is exposed, and it's
a truck, I've left it alone.

Should anyone on the list be interested in seeing it, give me a call or
email me. My cell # is 425-299-6390.

Thanks!

Still have this vehicle available - and have a real desire to let it
find a new home so the newest project of mine can fill the parking spot.
So..... If you want it, this car comes with a motor. Now.... Don't get
REAL excited.... It's a forklift motor, about 12 inches, a real torque
monster. Weighs a hefty 253 pounds, and used to power a Mazda truck at
120 volts. It's my way of sweetening the deal. (And yes, that IS a
firetruck in the picture behind my gate.... But I'm working to convert
it to run on bio-diesel so it won't smoke so much......

=============================================================
No.... you did not imagine it. I'm giving away a Porsche 924! Hopefully
to someone who wants to make an EV out of it. Of course, it is an older
one, a 1977 model, and it is not only FREE of price - it is free of a
motor, too! It is even free of some carpet, exhaust pipe, radiator, and
miscellaneous other stuff.

Here is the story. This Porsche was going to be restored. The motor was
sent out to be rebuilt, and the deal fell through. Fast forward about 10
years where the car sat in a backyard collecting moss. Now comes me. I
like electric vehicles. I sold my electric pickup truck, kept the
electric motor and controller and some other goodies, and planned on
putting them into this nifty sports car body. But I'm impatient, and
don't have enough time to do a total "from the ground up" conversion
properly. So I've decided to buy an already converted car to restore,
and get rid of this one for what I paid for it. Nothing! Note: Married
men who have too many cars "in progress" can have their lives made
uncomfortable.... So this car goes before the next one arrives, capisch?

The bad stuff. No motor. No keys. Dirty, ripped seats, broken lock on
steering wheel, dragging brakes, and neglect of over a decade being a
home for wasps and weeds.

The good stuff. The tranny is still there, as is the power transfer
shaft, bell housing, and some clutch parts. All the glass is intact. The
doors open and shut with still satisfying easy "thunk". The seats are
the nice Recaro seats.... put a cover on them. The lights are not
attached, but all the parts appear to be there. There is even a few
boxes of little bits and screws and stuff. 5 wheels - and they hold air.
The brakes work.... but are sticking (probably need to remove and clean
some rust off the caliper or something. And.... the person who I got it
from did not have a title so he arranged to have it declared salvage -
because it obviously did not work. So you can have that paperwork, and
when you put some kind of motor into it again, you will be able to get
it inspected and titled. (Or if you are a porsche nut, use this one for
donor parts to keep another one looking good for a few more years).

I would ask you for money, but I just don't think it would be fair. I
got it for free, and my "car-ma" might be harmed if I took this as an
opportunity to profit. If you have a car trailer, I might ask for help
moving another car in the future from Seattle to Snohomish.

Best contact is via email - and my wife would love for this to leave the
driveway this month. I would love it if somebody would actually do
something with this car - it seems a shame to let it go to waste.

Thanks -

Here is HER REQUEST:

Thank you for your interest in participating in the first Discovery Park
Alternatively-Fueled Vehicle Fair April 10th. We appreciate your
participation in our effort to promote alternatively-fueled vehicles.

The fair will take place at Discovery Park's Lower East Parking Lot
outside of the Discovery Park Environmental Learning Center on 3801 W.
Government from 10 am-2 pm. Participation is expected to be
weather-dependent. Frequently we have a lot of runner-traffic on
Saturday mornings. We have sent out a press release about the event
(see attached), and are planning in having it in the Times event section
and Magnolia News. Also attached, you will find a flyer for the event
which you can feel free to dstribute to your members.

We are inviting vendors to bring 2 vehicles to the event. There is
unfortunately, no place to turn around in the parking lot, so any semis
will need to park in the North Parking Lot and drop off vehicles, which
will then need to be driven the 1/4 mile to the E. Parking Lot. For
those of you unfamiliar with the park, check out our website at
discoverypark.org for a map of the park with directions to the North
Parking Lot.

Vendors may park the vehicles in the lot and show the cars. Test
driving on site will not be allowed; however, you may start the cars so
that people can see how quiet vehicles are. Feel free to hand out
information, but no sales may take place on site. Vendors must be
present with their vehicles.

We are hoping for a good turn out for earth month. Please let me know
if you plan on participating this April.

As an added "perk" coffee will be provided. If you have any questions
about the event, please contact me at (206) 733-9434.

Thanks again for your participation!
