scooter vs motorcycle help?!   Message List

Hi all, its been a while because I have been working to save up money
to save for either a motorcycle or a maxi scooter. Let me give you the
411 on my and my stats which may help you decide.

right now I work about 15 minutes from home and when it is nice I ride
my 1982 gs 450l to work and back. this is my first bike which was not
running when I got it. I rewired it, cleaned out the carbs , new air
box etc etc. I have now lost both battery covers and the speedo drive
has gone out and will have to special order it if I want to get the
speedo back. I live in fayetteville and drive to PTC.

I maybe be getting a new job downtown which is more like 40 minutes
from me and will require interstate travel. I like being able to ride
instead of taking the dodge durango because it sucks the gas. I have
about 5000 dollars and was trying to decide between a maxi scooter and
a used bike.

I am also 6'2 , 306 lbs (down from 340 so now fat jokes ;) )
anyways I am just a big guy. I will also like to be able to take my
wife on the back from time to time and to just have fun with. I am
torn between like a honda shadow 1100 ( I found a nice one for 5 grand
but has 67,00 miles on it eh ) and a couple of diffrent scoots. I
need power but I also like comfort. I know a lot to ask the thing
about most scoots is I have found I can't seem to fit far enough back
on the seat to stretch out my legs. What scoots would you recommend
for a tall guy?

I like scooters because they are automatic and quiet. But motorcycles
have a mystic to them but I hate changing gears. I admit I am lazy I
don't like to do it but they do seem to be designed a little better
for tall guys. so if you have any opinons good or bad I would like to
hear them even if its how to customize the seat just a little bit.

anyways thanks and keep it safe
