Thanks so much for the invite.  We're meeting our son and his family the middle of June.  You're date is just a little early for us.  We just returned from a 7 month trip -- I think we need to get our clothes washed before we take off again  -- lol.

Anne,
As far as i know the roads are good.
you may want to move over to the new group i have started
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/campinginoregon/
as this one i will eventually close down.
I had sent you an invite.
As for the dinner tree well i think it is worth the bucks, you get more food
then you can eat go to the links and click on the restaurant and go to there
website. for the money i have ate at Tumalo feed which i thought was a good
place and didn't even get half the food you get here.and more money. But
that is my personal opinion.
Like Jaynee said we are having the get to gether in silver lake on the the
weekend after Memorial weekend. camping at Silver Marsh campground. no
hookups, so far as i know it it isfree.

I can't answer your other questions, but there is a group of us going to the Cowboy dinner tree on June 2nd. Lilli, do we still have room? It sounds like it is well worth t he money, both in food and entertainment value. Check out the files for pics.

Hi,
We are thinking about visiting The Cowboy Tree in Silver Lake, then
going up to Clyde Holiday State Park to meet family. I'm wonder about
taking Country Road S-145 out of Silver Lake, then Christmas
Valley/Wagontire Road to 395 up to 20, then through Burns, continuing
on 395 up to John Day. This is foreign territory to us. We have a 39'
motor home.

Question .. are the roads good? Is this route good or should we go
back to Bend and take 26 out of Prineville, like Microsoft routes us?
What is recommended?

Question .. I know some of ya'll have been to The Cowboy Tree. Is it
worth the $$$ and the extra mileage?

Thanks for your help.

It's nice to be home and my kids are going to be glad I'm home too. I still have to call and let them know I made it home. But I think I'll wait awhile to call them, a shower comes first. <VBG>

I was at Lodi, CA in the Flying J Truck Stop. I was so tired I couldn't see straight! I'd had a couple of bad nights and it caught up with me. I went to bed at 8 pm and slept for 12 hrs! LOL  I hardly ever go to bed that early!!!

I just got home about 1 1/2 hrs ago and now my water heater has heated everything up, so loong shower here I come!

We are currently attending the national rally for the Escapee's RV Club at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds in Stockton (on Charter Way at Airport Dr., between I-5 and Hwy. 99).  I thought I'd let you know that Wednesday is "Community Day" and there is free admission!!!  You can attend seminars and visit the vendor booths. There are about 1,000 RV rigs camped here this week.  Escapees call their get-togethers an "Escapade". To see the details, go to http://www.escapees.com/escapade and follow the links for a schedule and directions.  Registration is in Bldg. 3 and they'll give you a "white" guest ribbon to wear. BTW, this is only a rally, not an RV sales show, although Dan Gamel RV does have 6 or 7 rigs on display. There are vendor booths for RV-related products and travel destinations inside and outside. List of vendors is on the website.

If you decide to come, give us a call on our cell # 530-320-6550 and we'd love to meet up with you. - Judy

Ok last yr we had a get together with some of the members on this list,
our first one, it went good. So thought I would do another one this yr.
So I am sending this as a special notice to some of the folks that are
set as such. AS we don't want you to miss out. This will be toward the
end of May depending on what feed back i get from this.
I am thinking of Silver Lake Oregon which is about 85 miles from Bend.
There are two places to camp in that area, one is called Silver lake Marsh
campground which is 10 miles from town, and the other is Thompson Resevoir
which is just 14 miles from town, same direction just 4 miles from Marsh
campground. Marsh was a free campground, unless they changed it,
not sure how much TR is. Will find out those details later.
Reason i am choosing this area: there is the Cowboy Dinner Tree.
and here is there website, http://www.cowboydinnertree.homestead.com/main.html
copy and paste, or go to the links file under restaurants.
I thought it would be nice for all of us to have dinner there,
the steaks are as big as a rump roast. The day of dinner can be
worked out later if we have folks interested. Also if you want
photos of the steaks go to the photo album named Cowboy Dinner tree,
enough food for the entire weekend.
So right now I am interested to knowing who would be interested
in haveing a GTG at that time? Let me know so we can make some plans.
And by the way this restaurant only takes reservations.
So we will need to know early enough.
So please let me know if this is something that you might
  be interested in?

Good Morning to all,
Just a note to all , I have started a new group called camping in Oregon. If you didn't get a invite it either means that you are set to recieve no new invites or i missed you, not on purpose as i tried to keep track of who i sent them too. Which was over a period of a few days . So if you didn't get it i am sorry.
If your interested in joining here is the site,

I started the new site because I feel we need input from members, so you that lurk  this may not be for you. I find that numbers on on a list does no one any good. I can only add so much on my own. I also found doing the invites that there are emails that are bouncing, no longer valid.

So what members have joined we are getting some really good information.
Right now we are focusing on information on the Oregon Coast .
Anway, come over if your wanting share in this new group, I am not sure yet when, but i will be shutting down the CO group
Thanks to you all and hope to see you over there.

If you are a wifi user....go to

www.fairaccess.hughesnet.com

to understand WHY your internet connection doesn't work very good!
THEN go to

www.petitiononline.com/dpcfap/petition.html

I don't usually get into these kinda things, but, I'm pretty hot and have been unable to get answers from hughes....This will affect free WIFI access at campgrounds, hotels etc...I own a hotel & as of today, will be shutting off access to my customers, live in an area where there is no DSL available....like I said, I'm pretty upset about this, have invested a lot of money in equipement so that I could offer this to my guests...Thanks & please spread the word, those of us who bought into this when it was still Directway had no idea this was coming!

Hi Sassy,
Glad that you made it there safe, the weather here is like winter again. So cold.
Too bad about your antenna, hope you got it fixed or a new one .
It sort of fun to go back to places that you used to live and see all the changes. Sort of sad too. When i went back to Germany to the little village i was born in it looked the same, just so much cleaner and prettier. But then that was back in the days of not much color. I would of loved to have gone into the apartment to see how things looked . you know when your a kid you have certain memories that just stick with you.

I'm safe and sound! :-) Somewhere between the truck stop and Ridgecrest my new Wilson antenna snapped in half. The coax is still good but can't get the thing to stay upright. So I couldn't get online while I was in Ridgecrest.

Right now I'm in Bakersfield slowly making my way home. I'm staying here overnight so I can catch up on all my emails. Can't have anyone worrying about me :-)

I had fun with my online friend in Ridgecrest. One day we went out to Trona which is the end of the world. I lived there for about 6 months many moons ago. LOL I wanted to see how much it had changed. The apts we lived in are gone. But we enjoyed the ride and even went to the local museum. I picked up some free quartz rocks that are water soluble! They can be found in a lot of places in the area. Just don't get them wet cause they will dissolve!

We also went to Randsburg which is an old western town that still has the original buildings and even a couple of hitching rails for you to tie your horse to when you ride it into town.  They still do that and I saw fresh evidence of them being there. LOL Got a picture of the old jail that had 2 cells. I tried to get a picture of the way they had it set up but don't know how well they will turn out.

No, I got caught at 4 corners and spent a day and a half there. They had predicted 50 mph winds with gusts up to 75 mph. So I parked and pointed my MH into the wind and rode it out. Several times I thought I was going to get whiplash because my MH was rocking so hard. LOL

I made it into Ridgecrest on Fri afternoon and left today and am staying in Bakersfield till tomorrow. I may drive over to the cemetery where my folks are buried to see how well their graves are holding up.

Hopefully she beat the SoCal winds and is holed-up in Bakersfield.

Hopefully she beat the SoCal winds and is holed-up in Bakersfield.

Hi Lilli

Wish we could be there!  Maybe next year.  Are at Mustang Island State park in TX.  A beautiful place, though we have had nothing but wind since arriving.  Want a warm beach experience and are not getting it!!  Though we cheated today, drove down the beach to the park limit and let the dogs run, they loved it!!  Had a great time,  will do the same tomorrow!  The plan was to be able to walk the beach but with winds in the 30's its not too fun.  Heading out Wed. for San Antonio then on to Livingston (Escapees Home), then up the Natchez Trace (with a stop at Red Bay, AL for some minor repairs) and the Blue Ridge Parkway to VA where we have friends and family to  visit.  Miss you guys a lot!!  Enjoy Cindy she is truly special!!

Luv you and Nevada!

Hugs

Mary

We just got back from Bandon where we stayed at Bullard Beach State Park. We went crabbing (nuthin' but babies), to the Casino (I ended up 12.64 to the good after throwing away $1.68), and garage selling (got some great bargains!).  The weather was off and on. We managed to stay dry while crabbing and nestled in snug in the RV when it rained. If I have any say in it we will not take 2 dogs with us ever again! What a mess!

I have found that using the zip code does not guarantee a satellite reception. We do better, much better, lining up with other satellites in the area!

Anyway, we are back and need to get ready for the next trip. Our reservation confirmation came in for LaPine for May & June. Lilli, we will need directions to our boondocking location. Who all is going now?
