The name is "glass mount," the theory is capacitive reactance. There is no reason that a properly designed "capacitor" can't pass a very acceptable RF signal....
The operative words here are "theory" and "proper". The windshield of our Lumina APV is big enough to land an A-6, and in theory should be properly designed...
