Re: RV > WIFI

To the extent this helps you:

I have the MBR1000 and a USB cellular modem from Sprint. Works very well in my
home. Have used in my RV out on the beach (West Coast) North of Monterey Bay
with one of those little plastic black external antennas stuck to the window.
Worked a treat.

Haven't permanently installed it in my RV where I will attach the cell modem to
a yet-to-be installed Wilson antenna. The reason is I am going to drop my home
DSL line in favor of the cellular connection and the MBR1000 will handle my
wired network in the house and the wireless out in the RV or around the house.
Cheaper than having both connections going all the time.

I have yet to find a place where I would have had better reception (modem speed)
with an amplifier. The places where it slowed down' to dial-up speeds (Butte,
Montana and Rapid City, South Dakota come to mind, Sprint had not deployed
their high speed cellular equipment.

I've been from California to Pennsylvania with a cell modem (Sprint) with no
problems and Washington to Arizona. I could and did drive down the West coast
and had cellular Internet connections all the way while driving.

I have been a few places where the Sprint model worked OK with the antenna (held
in place on the awning by a clamp) where my Sprint phone wouldn't work without
the antenna. Lake Tahoe comes to mind as a place that is marginal without a
Wilson antenna. The amp would probably help there too.
