RE: [RV_COM...] I see a lot of old posts - need up to date info on rv communications please

your options for your motorhome are the same as for your stick home:

OTA (over-the-air)
your MH should have a batwing antenna for OTA reception. your MH likely has
older analog TV(s) which will go dark on 2/17/09 unless you add a
digital-to-analog converter box. coupons for converter boxes are available
from <https://www.dtv2009.gov/>. options here are to use the converter or
remove the analog TV(s) and replace with digital models. if you have more
than 1 TV or a TV and VCR you'll need 1 converter for each device if you
want to watch/record different channels on each set.
================
cable
many rv parks offer cable tv service. the tv in your MH must be cable ready
and you'll need a way to connect your TV to the park's cable system. most
modern MH's have a cable input somewhere on the street side, maybe in a
storage bay. that usually connects to a video switch somewhere near the
main TV up front. to use the park's cable system you connect to the cable
with a run of RG-6 or RG-59 coax, switch the video selector to 'cable', tune
your TV to channel 3 or 4 and switch it's internal source to 'cable'
================
satellite
basically the same as with cable except you'll need your own dish and tuner.
================
you can turn your laptop into a TV receiver by adding the appropriate PCMCIA
card or external device. i have no direct experience with that so
can't/shouldn't advise you beyond that.

hope this helps. if you have additional questions please ask.

Just bought a 1993 Class A motorhome and this is a totally new
experience. We need to know what is the current technology for
accessing television reception and internet access as we travel from
BC Canada to Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, New Mexico,
Nevada and possibly into Mexico from Arizona. We have a new laptop.
The motorhome has an original antenna I guess. Help please.
