I found that pulling this stuff off during the winter is much easier, so I'm not sure why the dry ice didn't work. In the winter, I just hit the top tar stuff...

Mine was done in the winter "room temp" (so it was about 50'F). I went at it with putty knife. Then, I used the air hammer with a chisel tip for other parts....
