Hal,   if the engine is out and cylinder off, carb clean is your best bet.  I'd pull the crank seals and just keep pouring it throughflushing everything out,

Another way to "help" the chemicals do their job is to apply heat. A heat gun works wonders. Helps to soften the sludge and deposits. Perhaps you have a local
