Hello All,
Devin, hope you're ok; haven't seen your regular message in a couple of weeks.
.
I missed seeing the club folks--- and going to the drive-in--- early this
Spring. I'd hoped to be out & about by April, but couldn't get either of my cars
ready in time, and decided that instead of continuing to show up at the drive-in
"carless", I'd stay home and focus on the cars...so I could get something there
faster. :0
Finally (!) made it out to the Raleigh Road Drive-In the weekend after Memorial
Day, on May 30th, which was the first time they did the Triple Feature.
Actually, the timing worked out well, because I really enjoyed the Triple
Feature idea, and that was the night that the Suffolk car club made the trip
there....so we did have nearly an entire row of classics lined up. :)
.
The '61 Ford's current look is, well...Grandma's Rat Rod Fresh From The
Barn......which is pretty accurate. I could've kept her home for a year ("till
she looks more presentable") OR brought her out anyway, mice-eaten headliner,
paint 90% done, Granny bedspread on the seat, and all. I decided, Life Is
Short---- ya gotta get out there and drive 'em! Brought the car to the theater
as-is. :)
.
I was just happy to be there!
.
The Ford came from the factory radio-less, and I haven't gotten around to
putting in a sound system. The portable FM radio I bought specifically for the
drive-in was total crap....felt like emailing the company I bought it from to
say "How bad is the radio if it can't even lock onto the station when you're
standing 75 feet from where the signal is being broadcast????". LOL.
Luckily, the people parked next to me had an Acura or something similar with a
sound system you could've heard [clearly] 1/2 mile away, so I could hear the
movies.
.
I also went to the Butner Cruise-In this past week (Behind Wendy's/Food Lion
parking lot--- meets every 3rd Friday). It was harder, this time, to tell how
many cars were there, because they were parked over on an adjacent dirt lot,
overflow continuing into the Food Lion lot. Good-sized crowd though. I was happy
to see fellow Raleigh Road Drive-In Cruizers member Charles there.
.
Suggestion for the Yahoo group, Devin: What you do think about making the
Members list visible to all members, so we can see who else is in the club? I
see that membership has increased to 20...but I don't know who the new folks
are.
.
Hope to see you guys at many more events this summer, God Willing, The Creek
Don't Rise, and there's Money For Parts. :)
