Hey - congrats!

A question for you - how did you find out about the recall?  I just got
a 78 280e which is one I have been wanting to get and restore for quite
some time.  Someone had said there may be a recall out there but it was
too old for any of the normal sites I am aware of.

Hey Fellas
      Well it has been a few months since I told ya'll that I'd post
some Pics of the 78 450SL but I finally did.The paint is not original
so have a hard time trying to fix scratches and rock chips. Also got
some rust problems in the fenders.Wipers only work on the squirt
mode,clock needs fix'in but thats the bad news.I put 8,000.00 into the
shocks,rebuilt the cams,timing chain,guides and tensioner were all
replaced.The really good part I had a recall on the front end
support,tie rod replaced,motor mounts and bushings.GEZZ!!! I probably
forgot something but that was alot.She's a runn'in good though.I'll
send in some pics with the hard top on soon.Anyway ,we need to get
more  mercedes enthusiats on here.
     Any takers to pimp my ride!!!!

into the cams,blower,shocks,bushings,timing chain tensioner and guides
and various other things.One thing that caught my attention is
Mercedes had a problem with a sub frame under the motor that has been
a recall item so ,of course mine was cracking and getting replaced on
the recall also I was lucky enough to buy a 1978 450SL instead of an
earlier model because of the timing chain problem being only a single
chain and not standing up to the stresses. Sometimes it is better to
be lucky than good.
Any way I have been waiting for about 3 1/2 weeks now and I'm
getting anxious to finally get in and drive it with the top down.
I will be taking pic's as soon as I get it back
Also ran into some good links to help anybody with perusing good
parts and used mercedes I will be adding these later .So be patient
.....yea right ...and I will have some great pics soon

Well I went out and full filled a fantasy .......Got myself a 450
SL  and very inexpensive at that This is my dream car can't wait to
get it checked out.............Geez what did I just do now I have 2
benz's   OK I'll calm down Wow , never in a MILLION years did I ever
expect to pick up[ a cherry 450SL at that price.

I decided to get a new tensioner pulley I think it was old enough that
   it needed a new part anyway ....hopefully it will solve the problem
of getting the belt on sorry for being a pain in the you know what.

Hi jeremy, I got to tell you I have been trying to put a v-belt on
this 300 SE 6 cylinder with air conditioning just to get it to the
shop and I'm having a hell'va time .The tensioner pulley just doesn't
have enough play in it to give me the slack to slip the belt on.I have
the same belt that was on there 2415 mm so that should be good.The
reason the belt came off was to put a new alternator on.The belt is
about 1 1/2 in. from slipping on what do you propose I do sort of
putting it on a tow truck and taking it to a shop.

Had a bit of fun this morning from Hwy 26/217 to Macadam Ave with a
silver W211 E55. Anyone on the list?

Try www.mikbox.com it will addapt the Mercedes system to work with any
Motorola phone with the large plug on the bottom. I have used the v60i,
v710, and now have a v815. I plan to go to Argos soon so I can use any
Bluetooth phone.

You can try www.mikbox.com , I plan to go with the Argos. The
Mercedes system has to many glitches, locks up all the time.

I have a 2001 E55 with the stock timeport phone... I'd like to upgrade
the phone and keep the functionality of the steering wheel controls
and the built in microphone and speakers.

So far I've come across two options:

1. Argos bluetooth adaptor: http://www.eiskits.com/

2. or a mercedes bluetooth adaptor.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these? Or does anyone
know of other (maybe cheaper?) solutions?
