Apologies if this posts twice, I had a hiccup in my system...
Paul,
It was a Dodge Coronet, but it shared the chassis, drive train, and
body panels with the Plymouth. The only differences were the grill,
bumpers, and badges; an example of Chrysler's "badge-engineering."

Paul,
Yes, time. That's always the problem.
I learned to drive in a '51 Dodge with a "Hydroscopic" (?) transmission.
Probably the same body panels as yours. It was a steel blue four-door and I
knew I was destined to spend my life with it, but when I was fifteen, my
father sold it to a neighbor who promptly painted it fire-engine red with a
can of enamel and a BRUSH from the hardware store. It broke my heart every
time I saw it. Come to think of it, I'm still not too happy about that...
Cheers,

Ben,
I have a '60 Suburban Wagon Parts Car with complete 360 Automatic Driveline,
parked in '66. I can check to see if the Shifter Cable is in decent shape. Do
you know if the 6 used the same Cable?

Imperial Services wants $200.00 for the blasted thing, way nout my league.

Don't know how expensive this outfit is, but they might be helpful:
http://www.madisonpowersystems.com/index.htm
This site compares a lot of different vendors, most of whom supply standard
and custom cables:
http://www.nextag.com/shifter-cable/products-html
Again, if you have a brake specialist in town, check with them. They could
probably source or make up a cable. Is yours stretched or corroded and/or
broken?

Ben,
I'm glad you have brakes, and thanks for the tip on Rock Auto Parts.com.
I've gotten some hydraulic parts from my local NAPA (carry in your parts,
and look for the oldest guy there). They can at least make up new brake
lines if nothing else.
Another good source for brake parts, if you live in or near a larger
population center, is a wholesale brake house. Most of them specialize in
truck parts and service to auto shops, but they all have a retail parts
counter and those guys can source or rebuild practically anything. They can
reline your shoes in one day for half the price of anyone else. I've also
seen NOS wheel cylinders and masters on eBay, but you have to exercise a
little faith there and be ready to replace the rubber parts.
Thanks for the post. Good luck with your car.
David

Sonny,
I can't recommend anyone in your area, but I did find this listing:
A & A Royal Auto Trim
647 W 39th St
Kansas City, MO 64111 Map
<http://www.yellowpages.com/info-7574964/A-A-Royal-Auto-Trim/maps>
I think I would check with a local car club to get firsthand
recommendations. You could also check with a custom wheel shop and see who
their clients recommend.
Cheers,
David

Hello,
I need the internal turn indicator switch mechanism for my 1955 Plymouth Savoy.
This is the sealed unit that is inside the steering wheel hub. I suppose '54-56
Plymouth and Dodge are the same, but not sure as I don't have the part number.
Open to suggestions.
Does anyone have one they would part with? Please feel free to contact me on- or
off-list if you need more information.
Cheers,
David

Hi - since you all are interested in Plymouths - I thought I'd see if you were
interested in a
Classic Car restoration project . . . Here's the info . . .
This 1974 Plymouth Fury was originally a Kansas Highway Patrol car, then a City
Marshall
Police car. This car has a 400 cubic inch engine, which has been bored and
rebuilt, with only
5000 miles on the engine since the rebuild. A new exhaust system was installed
on the car
eight years ago. The tires have good tread. The body needs work due to rust,
but the car is
in running condition. A unique feature is the Police Light Bar, which is
included! This Classic
Car will make a great restoration project!
Unfortunately, I have neither the time nor money to restore the car – but I
don't want to see it
go to waste. I am asking $3,000 O.B.O. right now, but will consider any
reasonable offer! If
you are still interested and want to see it in person or receive pictures,
please let me know!
Hi all, I have the following available. Hope you don't mind my
posting this but figured someone might be interested.
54 Plymouth Plaza 2 door wagon: I've had this car for a number of
years and have had it for sale in a non active manner for a couple
years now. But, the time has come for me to realize that I have way
too many other projects that will need doing before I ever get to
this one. So... that being the case, I am reluctantly going to
become a bit more active in selling the car. It's a 54 Plaza 2 door
wagon. I started stripping the paint then just left it so there is
surface rust but not bad. It does, however, have a few rust
throught. The front right floor is gone and the left floor has a
little rust through. The removable insert mostly. BUT... I have
replacement floor panels (3) for the floors. There is a little rust
in the rocker panels, very little, and I also have those. The tail
gate has a small amount too. Sorry, no replacement for them but they
are flat so the left over rocker parts will fit just nicely.
The interior seats, door panels and storage bins are all new and
wrapped in plastic for storage. I have new black carpet for the
interior. All exterior lamp lenses are new and many other items have
been purchased. I have boxes of new and reconditioned parts that go
with the car.
It is a 6 cylinder flathead and 3 speed with overdrive. All new
brakes and hoses. New exhaust system from maniflod to tail pipe.I
could go on and on about it but you can see that I was well into
this befre finding the 53 Cranbrook I now drive instead of this
wagon. There are photos at my web site.
http://community.webshots.com/user/otrbob once there click on the 54
wagon photo to see what is there. Price...$2000. Bob Amos (951) 719-
6817.

All good quick advice. Or! Your rings can be worn out
