DANGER: Acetone attacks lubricity   Message List

Re: DANGER: Acetone attacks lubricity

A very small amount, Brawny. It only takes a few cc's to make a
change. Reintroducing sulfer back into the chemistry can also be
done more effectively with #2 Heating Oil. Too much of these heavy
oils may lead to varnishing. A little ATF is also an option.

Amazing!? I am shocked! Acetone a solvent? Lets just say that the
tiny amount being explored by this cautious group is nothing
compared to what is being dumped at the gate of the loading depot
under the disguise of cheap gas.
Hey, some have actually reported that the stuff will burn in their
cars.

Check it yourself.
Anyone can do the block and pin test with various oils and mixes.
Try it for yourself.

By the time that a few oz of Acetone is blended with a tank of
gasoline and then swirled thru the air fuel distribution system,
considering the vaporization characteristics, there is not much left
to disperse the lubricity of the cylinder walls.
If you all recall...high sulfer containing fuels of the past and
many fuels of the present form acids in city or cars that never
reach operating temps. Many of these acids and solvents and
substances are not conducive to lubrication. The lubricating oil
laboratories of today take all of this into consideration when
developing lubricating oils for your vehicle.
Various harsh fuels have been anticipated for the fuel system.
The modern good oils should take care of the problem but of course
TORCO and Energy Release et al, ensure your engines protection if
you feel that additional friction reduction is warranted.

Keep in mind that we are NOT filling the crankcase up with Acetone.
And even if we did.......some of these new polymers would probably
still lubricate.

Decarbonization! Indeed! Now that explains why the new engines are
running better in all respects!

Sterling, who wrote that letter?

Keep an open mind people....remember there are those that have spent
millions in the pursuit of devising ways to keep economy down. They
practically give our North Slope Oil to China and the East. They
tell us one thing and do another . They have ......oh well...I'll
clam it for now! But I will say:
The last thing that they want is for us to have even a miniscule
increase!

While in large concentrations, I would probably agree, but it seems the small amount we are using, I would think it wouldn't affect the lubrication much at...

This is easy to believe, they (oil cartel) don't want us questioning them about producing a better burning fuel. Just this little bit of acetone is proof that...

One comment before I put my two cents in regarding lubricity. I always read complaints about our cars getting worse mileage now than back in the 80's and that...

This whole thing that goes around about the car companies and what they can and can not do for us..... to me, it's getting old. They have had prior...
