Hi Jon,
Riding season has arrived over here with weather to suit so I've not started the bush project. I have a couple of non-parilla rubber items to get made also so I'll probably bundle them together later on in the year.

Thanks to all who have supported the manufacture of the headsteady bushes - they can now go ahead.
I'll have to review the quoted price for manufacture with the supplier as our sliding UK£ has made any imported raw materials take a big hike in the last few months. The good thing for the US/European buyers is that the low rate makes fx more favourable so that should offset any increases.
The Wildcat 250 tank mounts are marginal. I'll wait a little longer before deciding.
Its a holiday weekend here so I'll get the ball rolling on the headsteadies next Tuesday.
Many thanks

Getting near to the point that the headsteady bushes are worth doing.
Wcat 250 front tank mounts probably not going to happen
I'll wait another week or two for the final total - additions or cancellations.

Hi Jon & group,
Any progress on this matter???"Another list member has suggested a (potentially) more economical solution for all these bushings so I will get a quote for this and let everyone know"
We have had a variety of replica projects which other group members thought could be done cheaper/better/ quicker & to my knowledge very few have come to fruition. What they do achieve is to ruin the chances of anyone running with the original project as the idea that there is a 50c solution to a $10 problem lives on.
At present I have nearly enough orders to consider doing a run of rubber bushings but can't go ahead until the above solution is proved good or otherwise. If there is a 50c item out there lets hear about it !

It appears that Giovanni Par(r)illa has done it to me again! Tossed in an "odd" size or "half mm" size to foil my plans for commonality. I'm still sore from the steering bearing cup beating I took........ ..So unfortunately my original guess was wrong and the head stay rubbers can't be cut down to work for the rear hub - that is to say that at least the bushing bores in the 2 rear hubs I have both measure 23mm (the larger 192mm hubs). Does anyone have any other data that would refute this? Also - Another list member has suggested a (potentially) more economical solution for all these bushings so I will get a quote for this and let everyone know.Cheers!Jon

The headsteady bushes are roughly 22OD x13ID x 40L - from memory. The method of manufacture of the tubular bushes lends itself to any length being "parted off" the tube of material made to the OD & ID spec. So if the OD & ID are right for headsteady & cush drives (I have no dimensions to hand for these items) it is no problem to get part of the order as say 20L & the rest 40mm.
The hardness of the rubber (Shore rating) for the headsteady would be at the upper end of the scale & this would suit the usage as a cush drive. The softer mix I used for the tank rubbers would not be.
Any basically "piece-cut-off- a-tube" bush, washer or mounting e.g Parilla tank mount bushes, can be made quite inexpensively here in gas-proof compounds. The minimum number is dictated in these cases by smallest amount of compound its realistic to mix, mold & heat treat.. No tooling costs unless the ID/OD is odd e.g 25.4mm OD.
Any shaped component, e.g a conical Wildcat suspension half-bush, has to have a custom female mold made & each component is individually made from this mold. Quite expensive for the mold(s) & time consuming to produce each item by hand.
If you all can supply me with the dimensions of the needed bushes, cush drives, w.h.y I can collate them & come to a final agreed set of dimensions. No point in me making bushes from my sample dimensions if someone else has a more common variation of that component in a slightly different size.

Jon Jacobson wrote:Thanks Mike - I will commit to 10 of them. Please verify the dimensions with me-thanks.Will you keep a tally of all who will commit to buyng them and notify us when we have reached the magic number for order launch?FYI - If I'm not mistaken, these can be cut into shorter pices and will work as cush drive bushings. Is this correct?I have also discovered that they are the correct ID and OD for my Sturcher shock bushings - just cut them to correct length. This would make them useable for some Rumi, Bianchi, and Gilera B300 models.Rudiger, Enzo, everyone - How many do you need?

I can get them made as I did with the tank bushes but I need firm orders for at least 50 before I can go ahead.
From experience of previous orders they would be in the region of UK£5.00 each plus P&P.
Also from previous experience that may be more than some want to pay so the choice is there.
I have a couple of NOS tank & headsteady bushes from which I took measurements for my previous projects.. In both cases the rubber had degraded with storage & become rather too hard & brittle to perform as intended so be careful if you do happen on some NOS that its not turned to coal!

Sorry, Jon. I don’t have any of them. But I need to find some. If I do I’ll let you know.
Thanks, Rudiger

Rudiger -
Do you have any of the rubber bushings that fit into the 175 frame for the cylinder head support bracket? I need 3 of them. Let me know. Thanks!
