Mike, maybe your cylinder bore was not straight. I usually prefer to use a torque plate when boring cylinders. Dave

What's about vertical ring gap in the groove? Very unlikely but if that is too big the scraper becomes a pumper. Also possible:a casting fault in the barrel.
