Hey everybody, first time I've posted here - been a member for quite
awhile though.
I'm hunting for idea's on fabricating a seat slider for my trike. I
haven't been able to come up with something that meets my
requirements yet.
Due to the configuration of my trike, I really need to put a seat
slider under my glass flat bottom buggy seat. I've got pretty long
pull back bars that make it rather difficult to twist and get out of
the seat. I'd like to be able to slide back and just step out. pics
on this page will give you an idea of my situation
http://showcase.netins.net/web/lorinmiller/trike2_3.html
Requirements are that 1) it must lock in place - reliably. 2) It must
be weatherproof - no rusting allowed! 3) it can only be about 9 or
10" wide total and about 1" tall max. 4)it has to mount on the top of
the tunnel - the tunnel sides will have hinged doors for storage. 5)
it's got to be somewhat simple/elegant.
I've got access to mill/lathe, so don't let basic machining limit
ideas.
Idea's I've had so far are: 1)heavy duty roller bearing drawer
sliders laying flat. 2) C-channels, 3) try to modify existing seat
sliders. None of these really work as they will all either rust to
pieces quickly, or just don't seem like a good solution.
I figure this will also help for future sales potential (short or
tall won't be an issue then).
Thanks!
Lorin

Good Morning Windy,
I have pictures of my layout in doityourselftrikes Yahoo group. The last 3
pictures are mine. I have since the pictures were taken gotten my frame material
and strated on the construction. Long wway to go but hope to have it on the road
by spring. Note of interest to you. If you have the original title to the
corvair keep it. If you run into a problem registering it as a home made trike
and getting it inspected than you can always get it registered as the original
car. I know a guy who has a honda trike who did just that. Personally I don't
believe there will be a problem. I found an insurer for my trike at $140 a year.
Wish my Lincoln was that cheap.
Get in touch and let me know how your trike is coming along. My aol address is
midgado@...

Hey David,
Thanx for the cool idea, if nothing else I will try it... That
would be a one of a kind wouldn't it??? I already decided that I
want to use the whole rear portion, but never thought of the
front... Do you have any pics of your project??? I would love to
see them... Keep in touch and we'll help eachother any way we can,
maybe one day ride side by side...
See ya,

I'm talking body and all. Weld an acceptable bike front to a frame
and a frame to the front of yout little car. Using the front
headlights and everything. Should be novel approach. I'm in Macon
and am currently building a Pinto trike. Two wheels front, one back.
Unlike my suggestion to you I am not using the body.
