RE: [oldcorollas] Re: manifold for 3tc with Weber side drafts

"just to clarify... you have a 3tc in a '72 ke20 with a trd
sidedraft inlet manifold to fit 40mm sidedrafts? and you have
problems with dizzy clearance on the manifold?"

Yes, that's exactly right. And the manifold does bolt-on with all the bolts
lined up correctly; that's why we want to keep it so
badly. It's really cool. The car is not here with me at the moment, so I can't
snap any pics, but the next time I'm at the shop I
will take a few and post.

Coincidently, we have found a fairly inexpensive rebuilt 2TC distributor on Ebay
that we think might work. Any thoughts on this?:

We have an old TRD parts catalogue that shows a couple different sway bars for
Corollas that had a deeper forward step. I have no
idea where to find one, but it would be very cool if we could. I guess we're
going with the later model ke20/ke25/ke26 sway bar.

just to clarify... you have a 3tc in a '72 ke20 with a trd

any chance you could link to a pic of your engine bay or email a pic
to me spam@... <mailto:spam%40toycrazy.net> im sure i could suggest
some ideas. if
your manifold has 88220 cast into the top then its a 2tg manifold
and although the runners line up, the mounting bolts don't. if not,
then good score!
one possible option is run the 2tg or 2tgeu distributor which is
taller and thinner so should give clearance on sidedrafts.
as to your sway bar.. the earlier '70 - '72 corolla's ran a
reasonably straight front sway bar. whereas the later '73 - '75
ke20/ke25/ke26 have a larger forwards step in the middle section
which clears the crank pulley.

Wow, so there might be a smaller distributor cap for the 3TC? It's only about 1/8inch too big, so if there is a smaller one, that would be perfect. Any ideas...
