a simple cheap electric pump with a fixed output pressure is the
easiest option.

not sure if you could change spring in stocker to change fuel pressure.
i can't remember the workings exactly.. but.. it has the cam driven
lever under the diaphragm, and then a spring above to push it back.
changing that spring won't change fuel pressure as the stroke of the
diaphragm will still be the same...
if some of them (later k motors?) has an inbuilt pressure relief valve,
then you could alter that..

anyone ever rebuilt a fuel pump with a different spring so as to reduce the fuel pressure to a certain amount? any thoughts? robert....

... sounds like you want a pressure regulator, not fiddling with the pump. Superjamie had SUs on his Corolla for a while, I thought, maybe you could ask him...

Hi, Super Jaime is no longer around in corolla's. He ran 2 SU's off a mini and on his 4K lacked top end :( Run stock pump with a pressure reg ones off ebay...
