Alarm woes continued.   Message List

Re: Alarm woes continued.

The #28 is the security/powerlock breaker on a 2002, (thanks Brent) and will
de-activate the panic alarm but the downside is the loss of the powerlock system
whether in the vehicle or entering it.

With an authentic schematic, i would like to find out if i can find and snip or
throw a switch inbetween it (the security system) and the powerlocks...

As for now, I'm pulling the 28 fuse at night or when i park somewhere long term.

The other idea would be to pull the horn breaker under the hood each night and
let the panic alarm go off, lights and no horn. lol..

Of course I'd rather find out the way to bypass the panic system as if i were
adding an aftermarket alarm BUT install no alarm.

Brent or anyone have any solutions ??

Thanks, Ed in NJ.

Well, it went off again at 1AM again and this is disturbing even my distant neighbors. I did a search on the factory alarms for the xterra and found that other...

Ed, I'd try removing the batteries from your remotes next in case they're somehow activating randomly. The troubleshooting section in the service manual for...

I suppose pulling that horn relay would be a decent fix, so long as it doesn't completely disable the horn. Not sure about that. Otherwise, if you want the...

Well, for now its the 7.5 #28 that I'll pull until I think of something better to do. I might play around with setting it and bumping into the doors and trunk...

Ed, the alarm isn't triggered by motion. It is ONLY triggered by a door or hood opening or unlocking without a key (or remote)....

Yes, understood, I thought that by chance if i jarred or firmly tapped the doors and other places that I might get an idea of what sensor/switch was bad. The...
