I dunno, those times seem pretty good on a stock turbo. *shrug*

I still have my SRT, and it's still for sale. I don't want to be rid of it, but
I gotta trim the fat...

I'm seriously considering the move out of the US myself. But where to go? The
job situation isn't any better in Europe than it is here. And when you do get a
job, watch out for cost-of-living expenses... whoo! There are hundreds of
thousands of young, college educated people in Europe still living with their
parents because they can either not find a job, or, when they do, they can't
afford their own place. I wonder what the job situation is like in Costa Rica.
:P

Oh, and I've looked in Dubai, but it seems my experience level is not quite high
enough for a real living wage there, either. heh Something about high wages and
no income tax (and not being HERE) really speaks to me, though. ;)

I haven't been around in awhile, thought I would check-in.

SRT-4 is running good, boost problems thought prevent me from

improving on the 12.74@... I ran at Famoso and the 13.06@... I ran

at Pomona for the last ever NHRA Sport Compact event Finals. Those

times ran with the stock turbo in place.

I have been S3R since March but haven't really had time to sort out

the reasons why I don't see much more boost then I did with the stock

turbo.

Outside of that, nothing special going on, just waiting for SEMA

Show. I believe this will be the last year under the Pep Boys banner,

I had planned on leaving the company when I take my vacation to Europe

last winter (march/april) and spend 10-12 days in Europe looking at my

options for being an Expat.

Yep you heard correctly, I don't like the way the direction the

country is going, plus the fact I would like to get married and have

children there's no way I can do it on a Pep Boys salary one, two and

health care cost of skyrocketed, so until we have a social system much

like most of Western Europe, I think I need to hang out in Western

Europe for a few years.

Nothing is locked in stone yet, but in any event I do want to spend

another extended stay in Europe like I did in 2007.

Well just keeping in contact.

I hope this doesn't violate any list rules, and that it creates some interest on
the board.

Recently 2 of my customers asked me about the possibility of having the
"Original" Direct Connection patches that Chrylser used reproduced.

I am happy to report we received authorizatin from them May 1st to reproduce
them.

If you would have an interest in ordering any, contact me offlist and I will
send you the 3 designs they approved, sizes, colors and ordering information.

Tony!

How many times do I have to throw my hat into the ring, man? :) I offered to
take the group
once or twice already, so I'm offering again. I certainly don't mind just being
a moderator,
instead of the owner... just add me already!

Anyway, good job on the SRT. I hit a deer with mine a couple months ago, so I
managed to get a
carbon fiber replacement for the hood. Note: don't mess your hood up - it's $800
to replace. My
Carbon By Design hood was the best I could find, and it was still less than the
stock part.
Ouch. Other than that, I haven't managed to do anything to my car. It's begging
for a
suspension that's at least as good as the one on my '96, but I can't afford
that. After that,
I'm going to Hahn for some help with power...

The SOHC is still running strong and getting the best mileage it's ever gotten
by far. I don't
know what's causing it, but I'm happy with it. I'm tempted to gut the car in an
attempt to
lighten it as much as possible just to see how many MPG I can get. :P

This message is about Human beings, Democracy, UNHCR, Refugees, The Iraqis,
Islam, Kurds, Human rights, Respect, Money, Donations, Angelina Jolie,
Pavarotti, Giorgio Armani, Donors, Peace, History, Campaigns and about you if
you care about these words.

Hi there,

I am SAM, an Iraqi refugee living in Lebanon at the moment; I have spent the
last 10 years of my life as a refugee registered with the UNHCR in Beirut. The
last 4 years, I have spent as an activist for peace and human rights (especially
refugees and asylum seekers) on the Internet; I'm also books author and ebooks
publisher. I have launched many campaigns to improve our situation as refugees
in Lebanon and hopefully bring more understanding to our problems worldwide. I
helped make many changes and improvements at the UNHCR office in Beirut; I used
the Internet as the field for my activities (you can read more about that in my
free ebook 'MY CAMPAIGNS'). All my ebooks are free and could be download from my
sites.

This is my newest campaign, it's about the illegal and humiliating actions of
the UNHCR, who using photos of refugees as banners and human-buttons to collect
money. This is an abuse of the dignity and humanity of the refugees and must
stop immediately and a clear public apology present by The United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees. My friends, I am talking about the pictures you can
see here:
http://www.tbns.net/lebanon2/human-buttons.htm

Where you can read the rest of this message as web page.

Also you can read my new campaign 'Urgent, we need smile' here:

For more info about UNHCR and life of refugees you can read my free ebooks. I
invite you as fellow humans and members of the world community to support my
campaign by reading my article on my site and see the human-buttons. The
campaign is to support and improve the UNHCR http://www.unhcr.org especially
after the last scandals in the UN and UNHCR, just for example:

The refugees allege that UNHCR staff is selling most of the food items they are
supposed to be supplied.
"They aren't supplying sufficient food to us because they sell most of the food
items," they allege: http://allafrica.com/stories/200503140214.html
Here is another example: Burmese Refugees Withdraw Protest Against UNHCR
http://www.mizzima.com/archives/news-in-2005/news-in-april/12-April05-22.htm

"We make demonstration and fast because the UNHCR office in Cairo did nothing
for our problem..." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4440730.stm

Together we will build better world.

Scott, if you would like to take over. Your welcome too. I would
love another SOHC project car, just to prove the morrons at Sport

Bad ground somewhere could cause a problem. Check the ground cluster behind
the driver's side headlamp assy. Didn't say if you got the mystery airbag
light problem or not. If so the definitely check out the ignition switch.

Both lights I'd say wiggle the key and see if that fixes it. One lamp
reseat/ wiggle the fuses in the interior fuse compartment (side of dash
hidden by driver side front door).

Beg/ borrow a lamp to test what's up.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Well leaving my Mom's house tonight, I got in the car and the headlights
didn't work. The dash and all the parking lights came on but not the
headlights. I tried the high beams and they came on so I drove home that
way. Made a few people mad but I was desperate.

What's the lightly cause of this? The fuses were fine.

Thanks

Thanks Tom

I checked and removed both fuses and they are fine.

The ground wires I assume to 2 black wires that ground right above the
headlights on each side - they look fine but I will remove them tomorrow and
clean them. I wiggled the ign key and the headlight switch with no luck. All
the lights including the high beams do work without the key in the ignition.

I'll do some more checking tomorrow.

Thanks

Adam

Subject: [Neon SOHC Power] headlight question

Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Well leaving my Mom's house tonight, I got in the car and the headlights
didn't work. The dash and all the parking lights came on but not the
headlights. I tried the high beams and they came on so I drove home that
way. Made a few people mad but I was desperate.

What's the lightly cause of this? The fuses were fine.

Thanks

Adam

Don't feel like paying the insurance on a turbo car, thanks :) The AWD R/T
will do us just fine.

I'll take it, Tony. I'm the main mod (I don't own it, I just do all the work)
on one of the
Yahoo SRT-4 groups, and I own another Falcon/Comet group. Plus, I plan on
keeping my SOHC,
despite my wife's protests. :P

I'm thinking about handing over ownership of this group to somebody.
I have most likely purchase my last Neon of any kind. Its time to move
on to higher quality iron. I am keeping the SRT-4 and I'm going to
refinance it. This will allow me to make changes a bit faster.

My goal is 10.90's and remain a fun daily driver. I also want to
compete in the SCC Ulimate Sport Compact Challenge.

I have not visited much because my focus on SOHC Neons had dropped
over the last couple of months.

One reason is to build a competitive SOHC now for Compact drag
racing, you need to use the DOHC powerplant. The goal post get moved
every season.

You need to run 9.50's to be competitive in Sport FWD

The Street Stock record is now 11.23@124. That's on BFG Drags by the way.

If your back east, you have maybe one more class, but even in NDRA
PowerStreet you need to run mid to low 10's on drag radials to be
competive with the AWD cars.

So that's one reason why I got the SRT-4. One of several reasons why
I felt it was my best choice.

Anyway, I see others moving on as well, but this site has valuable
members for newcomers and we get them all the time.

In closing, I have put that out there and if your interested in
taking over the group, let me know.

I doubt the tubes are leaking, but sure you got the right seal for your #
of cams and year if the problem returns. You can use RTV but it kinda makes
the seals a one time use item.

Replacing the tubes is a PITA. I had a deformed one on a new MOPAR IT head
once. I ended up crushing it and "folding" it in on itself to get it to come
loose. Install new ones with Green (bearing and sleeve) Locktite. Helps to
have a block of wood to hammer them in. Keep them perfectly straight in
relation to the hole when installing it. If you have access to a press, you
will have to match the angle to get it to work right.

Thanks everyone.

I'll pick up some Champion plugs and decent wires.

This started because the car started missing / almost backfiring at idle and
it turned out I had a lot of oil in the #4 plug tube.

I took off the valve cover and replaced the seals around the tubes and the
valve cover. Painted the valve cover to match the car while I was at it :-)

It this doesn't work I'll have to buy replacement tubes at the dealer I
guess but so do I get down in there and clean the area where the tubes press
into the heads?

Adam

Adam

Stick with the stock Champions and quality wires no less that 7mm.

I have a 95 SOHC MTX with the "hot" cam that was stock that year. I've got a
K&N filter under the battery tray, ATX throttle body, and a DOHC dual-outlet
muffler. I swapped in a Mopar Performance PCM and had to start burning 92+
octane fuel due to the timing advance of the new PCM. Immediately, I started
running hot with either Bosch Platinums or NGK coppers. I swapped in a 160
degree thermostat with little change - just took a little more time to get too
hot. I hacked the front license plate holder for more air flow (seriously).
Then I went back to stock Champions.
Overheating problem back in control! Heat is the enemy. All the slick
marketing gimmicks just add problems.

With the way I drive, I get 6 - 10K miles out of the Champions, but they're
cheap and it only takes 20 minutes to swap 'em.

I was using bosch platinum with basic $30 part store replacement wires for
the last 2 years.

Its basically stock but does have a 55mm tb and dynomax muffler.

Thanks
